The GoPro is among the most fascinating creations out there, offering an unusual viewpoint into activities and places that we’d typically struggle to experience otherwise. Until recently, my favorite GoPro video featured a mischievous dog who swiped its owner’s device and dashed off through various yards and alleyways at breakneck speed. The sight of the owner in hot pursuit while silently hoping the dog wouldn’t damage the GoPro was priceless. However, that video may now have some competition from a rather bizarre and somewhat revolting video. This time-lapse GoPro footage captures the decay process within a rotting watermelon, and it looks like it belongs in a horror movie about bodily transformations.
The YouTube channel Photo Owl Time Lapse opted to place a GoPro camera within a watermelon to record its decaying process. Compiled over 128 days into a five-minute video, the footage swiftly becomes quite disturbing. A particularly intriguing day is around the eleventh, as it begins to resemble the interior of a zombie’s mouth or belly. The bubbles within are reminiscent of acid, as you might guess.
It’s equally intriguing and unsettling to observe a decaying watermelon via a GoPro camera. One can only speculate that space might have an eerie scent reminiscent of a horror movie scene. Fortunately, YouTube doesn’t include the feature to smell videos.
