‘This Ain’t America’: IT Prequel Series Welcome To Derry Unveils Terrifying FIRST LOOK About The Rise Of Pennywise; WATCH

As a die-hard Stephen King fan who’s spent countless nights under my bed covers with a flashlight and a dog-eared copy of IT, I can hardly contain my excitement for Welcome to Derry! Having lived through two nail-biting encounters with Pennywise already, I’m eager to delve deeper into the origins of this dreadful dance partner.

On August 5, Max revealed a sneak peek of its upcoming horror series titled Welcome to Derry, emphasizing that this IT prequel is not for the timid-hearted. The brief teaser from the streaming service, along with previews of other shows like The White Lotus season 3 and A Knight of the Seven, showcased new characters coated in blood and gruesome substances, with no appearance yet of Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise the Clown. Although the teaser lacked detailed storytelling, it utilized a voiceover to underscore the message: “This isn’t just any town. This is Derry.”

In the brief video, a sign welcoming you to a Maine town appears, proudly announcing that this is where the legendary lumberjack Paul Bunyan was born. Check it out below!

In the upcoming horror movie, scheduled for release in 2025, we delve into the origins of Pennywise, tracing his emergence prior to the events depicted in IT (2017). This chilling tale, titled “Welcome to Derry”, is set in the 1960s and offers a glimpse into the darker corners of Derry.

As an utterly thrilled fan, I just can’t contain my excitement! The filming for the much-anticipated series “Welcome to Derry” has finally been wrapped, as confirmed by our beloved showrunner, Jason Fuchs, on his Instagram post. In his own words, “237 shoot days later…That marks a picture wrap on this season of Welcome to Derry.” It’s surreal! What an incredible journey it’s been. I can hardly wait to see the final product unfold! His post also included a snap of his production chair from the sets, adorned with the iconic red balloon image – a sight that only adds fuel to my fervor!

A group including Rudy Mancuso, Kimberly Guerrero, Dorian Grey, Thomas Mitchell, BJ Harrison, Shane Marriott, Chad Rook, Peter Outerbridge, Madeleine Stowe, Stephen Rider, and others are expected to appear in the upcoming series. It’s been reported that Andy Muschietti, known for directing the recent IT movies, will be handling direction for four out of the nine episodes in this series.

A glimpse at the upcoming series echoes the short story “The Body” by Stephen King, which formed the basis for Rob Reiner’s 1986 film Stand By Me. For those unaware, Stephen King is the writer whose works inspired the two-part films directed by Muschietti in 2017 and 2019, with Skarsgård portraying the dancing clown in these movies.
