‘They Were So Supportive’: Carly Pearce Reveals Lainey Wilson And Kelsea Ballerini Reached Out To Her After Viral Heckler Moment

As a devoted fan of Carly Pearce, I must say that her recent encounter at We Fest has left me in awe. Her courage to stand up against disrespect and demand respect for herself is something that resonates deeply with me as a fellow woman in this world.

There’s been a lot of discussion about Carly Pearce’s interaction with an unruly audience member at We Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on August 2. Both fans and other musicians have rallied to her side, while some figures in country music have criticized her for the incident. On Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files, Pearce spoke about the supportive messages she received from her peers following the altercation, with Lainey Wilson and Kelsea Ballerini being among those who offered their backing.

At We Fest, Pearce dealt with an unruly audience member who was said to be disrespectful. The incident escalated, leading to Pearce, clearly upset, requesting that the individual be ejected from the concert, as seen in a video shared on X (previously known as Twitter). This footage was also captured by local radio host Ian Godfrey. During the show, Pearce spoke directly to the disruptive audience member, saying, “If you’re going to behave rudely, then you need to voice it to me and leave my performance.” According to Godfrey, the man had shouted “no one cares” when Pearce tried to interact with the crowd, prompting her to address the situation personally, as reported by PEOPLE.

Pearce’s response garnered a blend of opinions: many appreciated her assertiveness, but some faulted her choice of words and tactics. After the event became widely known, Pearce expressed apprehension as it started trending online. “That’s when I realized it had gone viral,” Pearce shared on the podcast. “I thought, ‘Oh dear. This isn’t good.'” Regardless of the polarized responses, she acknowledged on the podcast that she drew strength from the encouragement she received from her fellow country music women.

During an interview with PEOPLE last week, Pearce expressed her thoughts on the wider impact of the incident and called for a shift in societal norms regarding how women should endure disrespect. “It’s not acceptable to be rude to others and expect them to put up with it,” she stated.

According to what Pearce said on the podcast, well-known country musicians Lainey Wilson and Kelsea Ballerini quickly reached out to him. Remarkably, both artists sent texts to Pearce almost simultaneously. As Carly pointed out, they were incredibly supportive, forming a bond of female solidarity in that instant.

Furthermore, Pearce pointed out that the backing from Wilson and Ballerini held special significance to her. She expressed, “Few truly comprehend. In the realm of country music, there are so few women.” For Pearce, this kind of camaraderie and encouragement from fellow artists was incredibly reassuring.

“Pearce explained that when you’re surrounded by people who genuinely uplift you, such as loved ones who truly see you, they offer a unique level of understanding that others might not. In her case, having artists like Wilson and Ballerini beside her eased some of the pressure in difficult situations and emphasized the unity among women, especially during personal and public struggles.”
