As a lifelong Marvel enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless heroes and villains, I can confidently say that Loki’s journey is one for the ages. From his humble beginnings as a villain to his selfless sacrifice in Season 2, Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of Loki has captivated audiences worldwide.
However, with the Multiverse Saga nearing its climax, it’s hard not to feel that Loki’s story is far from over. The multiverse-shattering events hinted at in Avengers: Secret Wars demand a character like Loki, who has always been more than just a god of mischief.
The recent hints dropped by Marvel, such as the post-credits scene from The Marvels, suggest that Loki could be the key to preventing a cosmic disaster. But what if his role as the God of Stories puts him in the crosshairs of the main villain? If Doctor Doom emerges as the big bad, we might see an epic confrontation between two gods with a penchant for manipulating reality.
On the other hand, Loki’s newfound position at the heart of the multiverse could lead to a more subtle role. Perhaps he’ll have a revelation similar to Uatu, realizing that protecting the multiverse sometimes requires action rather than just observation. This would set up an exciting finale where Loki must make the ultimate sacrifice—or perhaps step away from his throne for the greater good.
Either way, leaving Loki out of the Multiverse Saga’s conclusion would be a grave mistake. After all, who else could we trust to save the multiverse when it needs saving most? Just remember, if you think you know where Loki’s story is headed, think again—because this god of chaos always has a trick up his sleeve (or behind that sly smile).
A little over a year ago, it appeared that Loki’s story within the Marvel Cinematic Universe had come to its fitting end. Initially sparing him in Phase 2, Thor’s adopted brother undergoes a dramatic change from antagonist to unwilling hero, forfeiting his liberty to save numerous lives. However, his narrative didn’t cease there.
In the second season of Loki, he assumed an entirely fresh position as the Master of Tales, seated on a throne at the core of the multiverse. This poignant development neatly concluded his character journey, and even realized Odin’s prophecy, where Loki would rule from a throne.
As a long-time fan of Marvel Cinematic Universe, I find myself eagerly anticipating the potential return of Tom Hiddleston as Loki, even though there has been no official announcement of a third season yet. With the Multiverse Saga nearing its climax, it feels like his character’s story is far from over. One intriguing hint about Loki’s future may come from “What If…?” Season 3, where Hiddleston portrayed a Frost Giant version of Loki planning to transform Jotunheim into a luxury ski resort. Although this was just a one-time appearance, the show’s finale left open possibilities that could lead to his next significant role. Given my deep interest in Marvel stories and the rich tapestry they weave, I am confident that Loki will continue to be an essential part of the MCU for years to come.
In Season 2, Loki’s sacrifice seemed permanent, but given the high-stakes scenario of Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, it’s tough to envision him not being involved. The multiverse is under threat, and if the movie adheres to the original comics, everything we know could be in jeopardy.
According to a theory, it’s unusual for Loki, who is known for his role as guardian of the multiverse and for fiercely controlling his fate, to remain idle while everything around him crumbles, considering his past struggles.
The complex system of rules governing Marvel’s multiverse can be puzzling, as terms like ‘threads’, ‘planes’, and ‘dimensions’ are frequently used synonymously. Yet, the crucial role of Loki at the heart of this multiverse is hard to overlook, particularly since the post-credits scene from The Marvels hints at various realities colliding. It seems that Loki might hold the solution to prevent catastrophic chaos.
Instead of Loki finding himself in trouble if he’s the God of Stories and faces the main antagonist in Secret Wars, it could be rephrased as follows: If Doctor Doom turns out to be the primary antagonist, there might come a time when Loki must make a difficult decision—either giving up his life or his status—to thwart him. On the other hand, an intriguing alternative would involve Loki taking action himself, leading to a grand battle between them.
In the realm of What If…?, a pivotal scene resonates with me as it seems to hint at a connection. The Watcher, Uatu, found himself standing trial by fellow Watchers for breaching their cardinal rule – non-interference. Rather than conceding defeat, he passionately asserted that mere observation was insufficient.
In a similar vein, he analogized, ‘Just as a garden needs tending to flourish, so does growth require eliminating detrimental factors.’ This mirrors the mission of the TVA under He Who Remains, but with a more even-handed perspective.
Might Loki, being the God of Stories, come to understand the necessity of action for preserving the multiverse in a similar way?
It’s intriguing too that Uatu’s analogy of tending a garden resembles Loki’s position now, nestled under a towering tree as his throne. This similarity seems to foreshadow a time when Loki may need to relinquish his role for the greater good.
Although Marvel hasn’t officially announced Loki’s return, it could prove disastrous if they exclude him from the culmination of the Multiverse Saga. His storyline isn’t finished, and the foundation has already been laid to reintroduce him for a final act that could reshape the entire universe.
