As a dedicated fan who has followed Guy Ritchie‘s work since his early days, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the renewal of The Gentlemen for season 2! Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, two fantastic actors that I’ve admired in their respective roles, are set to return. And who could ask for a better director than Guy Ritchie himself?
In the upcoming season, Theo James and Kaya Scodelario will be reprising their roles as Eddie Halstead and Susie Glass in “The Gentlemen” series, which has been granted a second installment. This Netflix production, launched on March 7, 2024, has captivated viewers with its intriguing plotline and the compelling dynamic between the main characters.
Although the producers haven’t disclosed the identities of other cast members just yet, they have confirmed that Guy Ritchie will be in charge of both writing and directing for the upcoming season. Additionally, Matthew Read has joined the team as the show’s writer.
Based on updates, it’s anticipated that the upcoming season will consist of eight episodes, with shooting set to commence in the following year. Initially, the storyline centered around Halstead and drug empire heiress Susie Glass.
When James’ character discovers Glass’s father’s connections to the cannabis business and their family’s entanglement with shady characters, he determines to help his family break free from these dangerous individuals. As Eddie delves deeper into the situation, he finds that not only can he navigate the underworld, but he also proves himself quite adept at it.
Guy Ritchie’s upcoming series shares the same historical setting as his 2019 movie with the same title. The movie featured Charlie Hunnam, Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell, and Jeremy Strong. It’s worth noting that the characters from the film are distinct from those in the series, providing a fresh experience for viewers.
As per the summary of the Netflix series, “Upon inheriting the family estate, Eddie finds out it houses a massive marijuana operation, and its operators show no signs of leaving.”
In the year 2024, according to Variety’s reports, “The Gentlemen” was a massive crowd-pleaser. Given Guy Ritchie’s standing as an influential figure in our industry, it wasn’t unexpected that he’d deliver another authentically British tale, infused with his unique blend of swagger, grit, and humor, which resonated strongly with the audience. I, for one, couldn’t agree more!
In the first season of the series, Theo James and Scodelario teamed up with Daniel Ings, Ruby Sear, Joel Richardson, and Ruby Jones. Not only did the actors bring significant characters to life, enhancing the storyline, but the writers and cameramen were also praised for their contributions.
In the near future, the creators of The Gentlemen’s series will reveal more information about Season 2.
