The Working Title for Marvel Studios’ Upcoming X-Men Reboot Reportedly Revealed

As a diehard fan, I can’t contain my excitement with the unveiling of Deadpool & Wolverine! Finally, it seems like the X-Men and mutants are being thoughtfully incorporated into the MCU. Although mutants have made brief appearances in past productions and Professor X and Beast graced the scenes of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels, it’s a breath of fresh air to see the X-Men properly acknowledged now!

Indeed, it’s been verified by Kevin Feige that the time for mutants is now, as a fresh take on the X-Men is in development, centering exclusively around the renowned mutant team.

It’s been announced that Michael Lesslie will pen the screenplay for the upcoming X-Men film, with rumors indicating he’s suggested a cast similar to the one from X-Men ’97.

Lately, leaks have disclosed the tentative title for this X-Men remake: “Chunnel.” Tentative titles are often used during production and can sometimes suggest the storyline’s direction, while other times they serve as temporary placeholders. In this instance, “Chunnel” could offer a hint regarding the movie’s narrative.

The Chunnel refers to a tunnel linking England and France. This undersea passage made an appearance in Marvel Comics on occasion. Notably, it played a significant role in the X-Men series, specifically in New X-Men issues #129 and #130. In this particular story arc, a character named Fantomex required the X-Men’s assistance after obtaining details about the Weapon X project.

The Channel Tunnel was the location where Fantomex, Charles Xavier, and Jean Grey engaged in a fierce fight against menacing beings. This encounter may suggest that Fantomex will have a role to play in the upcoming reboot.

At this point, the reboot of the X-Men hasn’t been given a release date, and details about the film are scarce. However, some rumors suggest that Marvel might be thinking about Colman Domingo, who played a role in Spider-Man, as a potential Professor X. Additionally, Daisy Edgar-Jones, known for her work in Twisters and Fresh, is being considered as a strong possibility for Jean Grey.
