The White Lotus Star Jason Isaacs Reacts to ‘Ridiculous’ Duke University T-Shirt Drama: ‘Wanting to Go Viral…’

Actor Jason Isaacs from The White Lotus Season 3 shows remarkable courage when expressing his opinions. Recently, he voiced disapproval regarding Duke University’s objection to the appearance of their logo on t-shirts in the series.

For those unfamiliar, the HBO series depicted Isaacs’s character, Timothy Ratliff, donning a Duke t-shirt in a dream sequence involving murder-suicide. However, it appears that this didn’t go over too well with the university itself, as they expressed their disapproval of having their logo used in such context.

Frank Tramble, Duke’s Vice President of Communications, Marketing, and Public Affairs, informed The New York Times that the series not only employed their brand without consent, but also used it in disturbing imagery that does not align with their values or identity, and took things a step too far.

As reported by Variety, the actor made an appearance at the season finale of the show while donning a Duke shirt, which seemed like a playful response to something. During a recent interview on the Prestige Junkie podcast, Issacs openly discussed his thoughts about this matter.

Due to his flight being canceled by the airline and having his luggage confiscated, he ended up buying a t-shirt as he had nothing else to wear for the day.

The entertainer went on to say that it was “the sole means of expression available at the Charlotte Airport,” and he believed it could cause “a tiny amount of trouble or fun.

In a recent podcast, I couldn’t help but chuckle at his comments about the whole situation seeming “slightly amusing.” Isaac himself admitted that he usually doesn’t let things bother him, but it was evidently someone who just enjoys seeing their name trend and seeks internet fame.

In everyday language, the actor from The Patriot stated that many graduates from the university are quite a questionable group, to put it mildly. He finds it hard to believe that a character portrayed as spiritually enlightened on TV could cause them much distress, considering such an idea as imaginative and absurd.

Despite wrapping up at the end of season 3, the show’s popularity persists among viewers, with the narrative involving the Ratliff family being one of the most frequently debated subjects online.

The audience can catch seasons 1,2, and 3 of The White Lotus on MAX.
