Actor Jason Isaacs took inspiration from a Bravo reality TV personality when developing his accent for his role as Tim Ratliff, a powerful patriarch, on HBO’s show White Lotus during its third season. Interestingly, he was criticized by some for what they considered to be “the most atrocious American accent an English person has ever attempted.
During an interview on Good Morning America, Jason confessed that after the episodes aired, he was able to accept it when viewers didn’t find his accent unusual. He reminisced about show creator Mike White assigning him the task of watching the Bravo series Southern Charm as preparation for his role.
As a devoted admirer, I must confess that some online enthusiasts have noticed a striking resemblance to Thomas Ravenel in my portrayal on the show. To set the record straight, I’m indeed embodying him, to a certain extent, but with a twist – I’m omitting two vowels, which are distinctly English.
In this rephrased version, the main actor from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets shares screen time with Parker Posey, who takes on the role of his character’s wife named Victoria. Together with their on-screen children, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola, they decide to stay at a Thai wellness resort during their family holiday.
Appearances may suggest a carefree and joyful getaway, yet beneath the facade lies a secret purpose for this trip. Unaware of this fact, Jason’s family believes he is simply on vacation, while in reality, he is eluding a federal investigation back home in the United States.
Previously, Nivola, the actor portraying one of Jason’s on-screen offspring, revealed to People that White suggested watching Southern Charm and that he adapted his accent and character largely from that television series.
Additionally, it was disclosed that the actor portraying Piper, who is his on-screen sister, hadn’t been assigned the same homework. Being well-versed in the ways of the south, she seemed to have already mastered the material. Yet, she admitted feeling excluded due to not being privy to the Bravo series.
So far in White Lotus season 3, four episodes have been aired, each offering surprising plots and sudden changes. The most jaw-dropping moment came when Greg Hunt (played by Jon Gries), the malicious spouse of Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge), made his comeback.
