Essentially, the live-action Wheel of Time series on Amazon is no longer being produced, having come to an end after completing its third season.
The news comes after the final episode was released on April 17.
Why was The Wheel of Time canceled?
In many instances, the series The Wheel of Time has been terminated due to low viewer numbers not being able to cover its substantial production costs.
It’s been observed that the ratings for Season 3 declined significantly following its first three weeks on air, with no episodes appearing in the Nielsen charts thereafter, whereas every episode from Seasons 1 and 2 managed to make it onto those charts.
Deadline reports:
Despite a less-than-impressive showing in Season 3, the production costs of the series outweighed its performance on Prime Video, making it difficult for them to greenlight another season. After considering various possibilities and consulting with Sony TV, the streamer ultimately decided that they couldn’t make the show viable.
In contrast to the high praise from critics, with a Rotten Tomatoes Score of 94%, “The Wheel of Time” appears to have a less enthusiastic response among fans. While it boasts a dedicated following, this is reflected in a relatively low fan score of 77%. Given its passionate fanbase, a score of 61% for Season 1 seems surprisingly low.
