At CinemaCon, The Weeknd and Jenna Ortega were the standout stars. Lionsgate reserved them for the grand finale, and it certainly paid off. They graced us with their presence to discuss their upcoming film, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” directed by Trey Edward Shults.
During a live show, Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, ignited the stage with an electrifying performance. He performed two songs from the movie, “Cry for Me” and “Open Hearts”, as well as his popular hit “Blinding Lights”. The audience at Caesars Colosseum was in store for a memorable experience.
Prior to the show, Adam Fogelson from Lionsgate Motion Picture Chair, who was rather nervous, introduced Ortega. In response, Ortega playfully teased him saying, “You’re being quite modest, and I’ve barely been here for five minutes.
While on stage during my performance, an unforgettable moment occurred when I spotted the iconic Star Wars actor, Mark Hamill, in the audience. Overwhelmed by excitement, I paused mid-song to address him personally, expressing my disbelief and admiration: “I can’t believe it’s really you, Mark Hamill! This is insane. May the Force be with you!
With great excitement, the crowd responded when two prominent figures from distinct realms of entertainment engaged in an impromptu exchange. It was evident that The Weeknd held Hamill in high regard, making their interplay a memorable moment during the proceedings.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that a fresh trailer for the intriguing film titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow” has been unveiled! In this captivating production, The Weeknd steps into the role of a larger-than-life performer, mirroring himself in many ways. However, it’s Ortega who portrays his girlfriend, a character grappling with her own struggles. Despite her deep affection for him, he appears distant and neglectful, ignoring her calls. The film boasts a stylish noir aesthetic that lends an intense, emotional atmosphere to the narrative.
Director Trey Edward Shults highly appreciated his collaboration with The Weeknd, remarking it felt almost effortless. As he put it, “He’s just like family.” On another note, Ortega shared that the movie is challenging to define. Instead, she stated, “It offers more of an immersive experience.
With its mysterious story and emotional depth, Hurry Up Tomorrow is shaping up to be a must-watch.
