Season 1 of “The Waterfront” ended with major advancements for the Buckley clan, hinting at intense plots for a potential season 2. This Netflix series focuses on the Buckleys, a troubled family living in the fictional town of Havenport, who find themselves embroiled in crime and family secrets. The finale disclosed acts of betrayal, a hazardous alliance, and an unexpected power shift among them.
Belle becomes the new boss after striking a deal
Belle Buckley covertly negotiated with the influential Parker clan to safeguard the Buckleys’ land from Wes. After purchasing the Buckleys’ bank loans, Wes aimed to seize their property. By persuading the Parkers to tackle Wes, however, Belle was obliged to assume leadership of the Buckley business empire.
In the last scene, Belle was seen towering over a defeated Wes, who had taken on the role of ‘the new authority figure.’ This revelation could stir up trouble since Belle hadn’t disclosed this business arrangement to her husband, Harlan. Consequently, The Waterfront season 2 might introduce some conflicts based on this secret.
Cane and Harlan sought the assistance of the Parkers in handling their troublesome new business associate, Grady, who had proven himself to be volatile. Regrettably, Grady had taken Bree captive, however, Cane and Harlan successfully rescued her. Following Grady’s death, Harlan said to Cane, “It was necessary.” This event represented the first life that Cane took, causing him significant distress, but he recognized it was crucial for saving Bree.
Currently, the Parkers and the Buckleys are once again working together, but neither Cane nor Harlan is privy to Belle’s private arrangement with the cartel.
Here’s what happened to Bree and Peyton in the finale
In a harrowing turn of events, Grady fired at Bree, hitting her in the leg and pushing her into the ocean. However, Diller intervened by hurling a survival kit to her. Eventually, Bree was saved and transported to a hospital. The ordeal served as a catalyst for Bree to confront her past traumas, such as the murder of her grandfather, Beau Buckley, an incident she had witnessed as a child.
After Peyton spoke with Jenna, Cane and Jenna concluded their romantic involvement. Peyton chose to extend forgiveness to Cane and persist in their imperfect marriage.
Shawn, son of Harlan, played a crucial role in rescuing Bree, yet appeared hesitant about settling down in Havenport. Though he demonstrated his allegiance, it’s clear that he feels uneasy around the Buckleys’ questionable dealings. His future plans are unclear at this point.
