In the game Avowed, there’s a mission called The Wasteland Courier. You meet a merchant who appears uneasy, and he entrusts you with a task to collect a package for him. He won’t disclose what’s inside it, but instead asks you to follow a trail of white arrows. The first one is right next to him, offering a hint to the location of the rest.
It’s fortunate that a significant portion of this journey doesn’t require essential business tasks. Strictly following the path isn’t rewarded with prizes, and there aren’t many intriguing discoveries en route beyond occasional skirmishes. Consequently, you can choose to bypass the trail and head directly towards your destination without missing much along the way.
Why Are There White Arrows Around Shatterscarp?
As a gamer, I often stumble upon these scattered arrows across the game map before picking up a quest. At first glance, they might seem insignificant due to their wide distribution, but following them can feel like an elusive wild goose chase. However, if you’ve noticed these arrows and are wondering why, they contribute to the side quest “The Wasteland Courier.” Despite their role in this quest, they aren’t crucial, as we’ll delve into further below.
How To Find The Grafitti
For this mission, your objective will be to locate some graffiti. Following the trail of arrows, you’ll come across a stone pillar with writing on it, signaling your proximity to your destination. To reach it, make your way to the cave situated in the Deadfall Highlands. On the map, it is positioned right above the ‘d’ in ‘Highlands’. You’ll notice an arrow pointing up a ramp, and at the top of this ramp, you will find the entrance to the cave.
As you traverse this cave, you’ll encounter a fragile wooden barricade after a winding stone pathway. Knock it down with a regular attack, followed by defeating the Crystal Eater Spiderlings on the other side – there are initially four, but two more emerge later. Next, you’ll come across a gap that you can leap over. Beyond this, you will discover some graffiti, but your journey isn’t complete just yet.
How To Get Down The Gorge

Upon reaching the graffiti, head left up the next section of the cliff. You’ll find more graffiti here, and it offers a vantage point over a gorge where your destination lies. Regrettably, the cliff is too steep to descend by jumping or sliding. Instead, proceed towards the graffiti and you’ll spot a breakable wooden floor. Attack downwards and then carefully drop through the hole.
As a gamer, I find myself straight away battling hordes of Crystal Eater Spiderlings that I need to vanquish. Continuing my journey through the spacious battlefield, I’ll encounter even more of these arachnids. After defeating them all, make your way to the slightly raised platform at the back and left side of the arena, then dash along and leap through the gap on the right. This leads you to Aiko’s Campsite, where my quest comes to an end.
Should You Take The Drugs In The Package?

While speaking with Aiko, he appears dizzy due to a recent spider bite. Towards the end of the conversation, he requests 500cp, but unfortunately, his time is running out. He trusts you enough to accept your lie about not having it, and can be looted immediately afterwards, so your decision doesn’t affect the outcome. Similarly, there’s an option to consume drugs from a package before delivery. If you decide to do so (as Yatzli suggests), nothing happens, so this choice does not impact the situation either.
Should You Return The Package To Daiko Or The Tira Nui?

After completing this task, you’re left with two options: either return the drugs to the courier who requested them, or proceed to the elusive location known as Tira Nui. It’s important to note that if you haven’t completed a bounty yet, you likely won’t have encountered them. To find Tira Nui, look for the bounty board and speak with the individual there. If you decide to return the drugs, Tira Nui will express gratitude and reward you with a Thirdborn Tira Nui Badge, which enhances your Might by 2 when worn.
Regarding Daiko, if you honor your promise and reconnect with him, he won’t mind if you’ve already opened the package. Instead, he’ll reward you with a kit that enhances your weapons, causing them to inflict an additional 5% poison damage. It’s a more specific perk, but also makes you seem less suspicious, so the decision is yours.
