The trailer for the adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s sequel novel uses the familiar melody of The Cranberries’ “Dreams” to create a disturbing contrast. It shows girls in uniforms and a highly structured environment, with Hannah’s (Infiniti) dollhouse representing the cruel, controlling society they live in. The trailer quickly subverts expectations, showing men being hanged with the girls displaying no reaction. Aunt Lydia’s school is presented as a place dedicated to raising the next generation of wives, enforcing strict rules and justifying them with religious beliefs. The story takes place five years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, and Infiniti plays a teenage version of Hannah.
The arrival of a new girl, Lucy Halliday, from outside Gilead’s community, helps Hannah start to see things differently. Their connection sparks significant changes. The trailer maintains the same dark and intense atmosphere as the original show, and it was genuinely chilling – I got goosebumps!
Ann Dowd will be back as Aunt Lydia in the upcoming series, and she previously won an Emmy for her role. The new cast also includes Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien.

Rising star Chase Infiniti is quickly moving from one exciting project to the next. Following her breakout role in the Oscar-nominated film by Paul Thomas Anderson, she’s now starring in the dark and gripping drama, The Testaments. The first three episodes will be available to stream on Hulu starting Wednesday, April 8th, with new episodes released weekly thereafter.
