During the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the title for the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Known as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, this upcoming film takes its name from one of the beloved and critically acclaimed games in the franchise – 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. This game and its follow-up, Super Mario Galaxy 2 from 2010, remain among Metacritic’s top 4 and 5 best games ever made. Quite an achievement indeed!
In the upcoming movie titled “Super Mario Galaxy,” Chris Pratt is set to reprise his role as Mario, alongside Charlie Day as Luigi. Joining them once again are Anya Taylor-Joy (as Princess Peach), Jack Black (as Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (as Toad), and Kevin Michael Richardson (as Kamek, contributing to more animated excitement. Nintendo and Illumination have hinted that they will reveal further characters and voice actors at a later time.
For the upcoming sequel of “The Super Mario Bros Movie,” the same crew behind the camera will be returning. Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are collaborating with screenwriter Matthew Fogel on the script for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” Additionally, Brian Tyler is coming back to compose the music score.
As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share my anticipation for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” The title itself is a tantalizing clue that this sequel promises otherworldly adventures. Just like its precursor, it’s safe to assume we’ll be collecting a plethora of gold coins along the way. Mark your calendars for an epic journey, as it blasts off into theaters on April 3, 2026!
