Nintendo recently released the first trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and it features a hilarious opening scene with a frustrated, lovelorn Bowser in his castle, being observed by Mario and Luigi. The trailer is packed with references that longtime Super Mario Bros. fans will enjoy, with a little help from Jack Black’s enthusiastic presentation during the latest Nintendo Direct.

The latest trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie didn’t showcase much of Mario’s space adventure, but it did reveal two exciting new characters. Brie Larson, known for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will voice Princess Rosalina, and Benny Safdie will play Bowser Jr.

Rosalina watches over the universe and little star creatures called Lumas. We briefly encountered a Luma in The Super Mario Bros. game, and now we can expect to see many more of them.

Bowser Jr., of course, is, of course, Bowser’s only child and the prince and heir to his throne.

He’s definitely going to cause some trouble! Even in the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, he’s already proving to be both cute and a bit of a handful.

Chris Pratt will once again voice Mario in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and Charlie Day is returning as Luigi. Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek will all be back in their original roles as well.

The same creative team worked on this film. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic directed, with a script by Matthew Fogel. Brian Tyler composed the music, and Illumination Studios did the animation.

I’m really excited, and honestly, I’ve been waiting a long time for this! The sequel finally comes out in theaters on April 3, 2026, and I can hardly wait to see it.
