The Simpsons To Produce Four Exclusive Episodes For Disney+ And A Two-Part Christmas Special

As a lifelong Simpsons enthusiast who can remember the day Bart Simpson graced our television screens for the very first time, this latest announcement has me jumping with joy! Growing up, The Simpsons was more than just a cartoon to me – it was a window into a world filled with humor, wit, and social commentary.

The Simpson family is set to deliver brand-new episodes on Disney+ following an announcement made at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim. Four exclusive installments, including a special two-part Christmas spectacular, are scheduled for release this year. This thrilling update signifies a new beginning for the enduring series, as it continues to captivate audiences with innovative content.

At the D23 event, it was announced by Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson’s voice actress) alongside series creator Matt Groening and others including Al Jean, Mike Price, Matt Selman, Brian Kelley, and David Silverman, that Season 35 of The Simpsons will be available on Disney+ in October. This season consists of 18 episodes that were previously aired on Fox. Furthermore, Disney+ is planning to release four new, exclusive episodes later this year.

According to reports, these episodes are named “The Past and the Furious” and “Yellow Planet”, with the two-part Christmas special, titled “O C’mon All Ye Faithful”, scheduled to air on December 17. This date is significant as it marks the 35th anniversary of the debut of the much-loved animated sitcom. Additionally, a spooky Halloween short starring The Simpsons is expected to be released in October on the same platform.

Previously in an interview with Screen Rant, co-showrunner Al Jean expressed optimism about more successful seasons for The Simpsons. Although Season 36 has been confirmed, Jean hinted at a full schedule of episodes this year that looked great due to the collaboration with the animators.

As a lifestyle expert, I shared that we had to temporarily halt our production for four months due to the strike. However, I firmly believe this was the correct call. The show is currently thriving and I can’t help but feel proud of the exceptional quality it’s delivering. While I may be biased, I truly think that each episode, whether I contribute a lot or a little, is top-notch. Looking ahead, I have no doubt that we will reach 800 episodes and hopefully even surpass 1000!
