As a seasoned horror aficionado, who’s had my share of sleepless nights thanks to genre greats like The Conjuring and The Exorcist, I can’t help but feel a shiver of anticipation upon witnessing the first trailer for The Shade. The haunting imagery and chilling atmosphere promise an experience that will leave me questioning every creak in my old house at night.
The first trailer for The Shade reveals a chilling supernatural threat that haunts the Beckman family. In this upcoming horror film, Chris Galust, Dylan McTee, and Laura Benanti portray a family grappling with the recent loss of their father. As they deal with their grief, they must confront a terrifying and mysterious spirit.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I can’t help but be thrilled about “The Shade,” a chilling and suspenseful masterpiece set to debut under the visionary direction of Ryan Chipman in his feature film premiere. Produced by none other than David Purdy from Red King Cinema, this horror flick is destined to send shivers down our spines. Here’s everything you should know about this highly anticipated movie.
The narrative of “The Shade” revolves around 20-year-old character Chris Galust, portraying Ryan Beckman, who is grappling with the loss of his father. Residing with his mother, Laura Benanti’s portrayal, and working as an apprentice at a neighborhood tattoo studio, Ryan concurrently looks after his younger sibling, Sam Duncan’s character James.
Upon an unforeseen homecoming of his elder sibling Jason (portrayed by Dylan McTee), a college sportsman, there’s an enigmatic and ominous aura that accompanies him. Check out the trailer below.
The official synopsis of The Shade read, “The grieving college student struggles to hold his family together as an unspeakable darkness plagues his older brother Jason—a collegiate athlete who has unexpectedly returned home mid-semester. When a mysterious entity begins stalking Ryan, he is forced to confront the dark presence before it destroys what remains of his family.”
Leading the cast is accomplished actress and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti, who’s renowned for her work in Gypsy, No Hard Feelings, Tick, Tick…Boom!, as well as TV series like Nashville, Supergirl, and The Gilded Age. Emerging talent Chris Galust has made appearances in films such as Mending the Line and Castle Freak. Dylan McTee can be spotted in Sweet/Vicious and Roswell, New Mexico.
I’m thrilled to be part of the excitement as “The Shade” is set to appear alongside other chilling horror films this autumn, such as Speak No Evil, Terrifier 3, and Smile 2. This gripping film has found a home with Level 33 Entertainment for North American distribution, ready to send shivers down spines across the continent.
“The movie ‘The Shade’ will make its way to cinemas in the U.S. and Canada on September 20, 2024, initially. Keep an eye out for announcements about streaming availability and more information.”
