THE ROOKIE Will Crossover With Dropout Series GAME CHANGER

TV crossovers are hugely popular right now, like when Abbott Elementary teamed up with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, or all the episodes linking Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med. Now, Variety reports another unexpected crossover is coming! The Rookie, the ABC police procedural starring Nathan Fillion, will feature the cast of Game Changer, a series from the comedy platform Dropout (formerly CollegeHumor). The episode, titled “Fun and Games,” will air on ABC on March 2nd at 10 p.m.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Rookie/Game Changer crossover episode “Fun and Games” from ABC:

Harper and Miles are both dealing with the consequences of errors they’ve made, and Harper is now responsible for training Miles. Meanwhile, Nolan and Celina respond to a robbery at Dropout TV Studios, where Nolan unexpectedly runs into someone he knows.

Next week’s episode of The Rookie will include a special appearance by Sam Reich, the CEO of Dropout and host of Game Changer, along with other Dropout personalities like Vic Michaelis, Jacob Wysocki, Zac Oyama, and Anna Garcia. They’ll be joining The Rookie‘s usual stars, Nathan Fillion, Mekia Cox, Lisseth Chavez, and Deric Augustine. Part of the episode was filmed at Dropout’s Los Angeles studios. After it airs on ABC, this unique crossover episode will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.

The popular ABC show, The Rookie, is currently airing its eighth season. It’s already spawned one spin-off, The Rookie: Feds, and another, The Rookie: North, is in the works. Interestingly, the world of The Rookie even crossed over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a recent appearance in the Wonder Man show. Star Nathan Fillion has a strong relationship with ABC, as The Rookie followed his previous eight-season run with Castle (2009-2016). But many fans will always remember him best as Captain Mal Reynolds, even though that beloved show only lasted a single season.
