The second season finale of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” concluded with an awe-inspiring battle between orcs/Uruks and elves at Eregion. Sauron skillfully controlled both sides, furthering his own ambitions. This season was filled with sorrowful events and intense drama, far more ominous than the initial installments of “The Rings of Power”. The looming darkness in this “Lord of the Rings” series seems to be escalating. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your perspective, “The Rings of Power” has been renewed for a third season, which means we’ll delve even deeper into the gloom. Despite it being early days for season three, it’s clear that things will need to worsen before they can improve in this “Lord of the Rings” series.
Here’s everything we know about The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season three.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3’s Plot
Despite the fact that Season Three of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on Prime Video is yet to arrive, they’ve already shared this intriguing synopsis for the show:
Skipping ahead a few years from the occurrences in season 2, season 3 unfolds during the peak of the War between Elves and Sauron. In this battle, Sauron is attempting to forge the One Ring, a powerful artifact that would grant him the advantage needed to ultimately subdue Middle-earth.
In the transition from season two to three of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, there will be a leap in time, given the extensive events taking place during the Second Age of Middle-earth. A significant aspect of the narrative will revolve around Sauron’s mission to craft the One Ring (to rule them all). As indicated by the showrunners, Sauron currently lacks sufficient knowledge to create a Ring of Power on his own. However, we anticipate that he’ll acquire it in the upcoming season.
Moreover, wars will be central to the events of season three, primarily focusing on The War of the Elves and Sauron during the Second Age. This significant conflict will predominantly feature elves and Sauron, as expected. However, the Númenóreans will significantly impact the unfolding storyline, as they align with the elves against the darkness. Nonetheless, Sauron’s cunning ability to manipulate individuals may not be absent, potentially influencing a power-hungry Ar-Pharazôn. The outcome remains uncertain and will be revealed in due time.

As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the principal cast of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” including Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Robert Aramayo, and others, are anticipated to reprise their roles in season three. Bower and Richardson will become regular series characters, while Marsan, Varla, and Young will take on recurring roles. The specific characters they’ll portray in the series remain a mystery for now.
