‘The Rings of Power’ Dared to Go There and Revealed The Most Shocking Character Death Yet

As a lifelong fan of Middle-earth, I must say that the fifth episode of ‘The Rings of Power’ has left me utterly spellbound! The tension between Númenor and Middle-earth is palpable, and it seems Sauron’s machinations are escalating at an alarming pace.

In the latest instalment of ‘The Rings of Power’, chaos reigns across Middle-earth. This turmoil is mainly caused by Sauron, known as Annatar in disguise, who is nearing the end of his intricate scheme that involves the rings of power.

Across the continent, Númenor is grappling with its own internal issues. It’s been revealed that Pharazon seized some of Miriel’s authority following an event where he was apparently selected by a powerful Eagle. Furthermore, Pharazon harbors no affection for the Valar or Elves, and the presence of the Faithful and Valar attire in Numenor distresses him greatly.

Eärien, Isildur’s sister and Elendil’s daughter, deeply disliked Miriel’s decision to go to Middle-earth and grew increasingly resentful when it was assumed that Isildur had perished in a war they didn’t have to fight. This resentment made it simpler for her to form an alliance with Pharazon and Kemen, his son.

In episode 5, Elendil and Valandil are performing a ritual honoring the divine beings known as the Valar in their temple, when Kemen, accompanied by his group of guards, interrupts. He declares that Pharazon has forbidden worshiping the Valar, causing a dispute. Matters escalate when Kemen breaks a sacred statue of the Valar. In the ensuing altercation, Valandil attacks Kemen and they grapple on the floor. However, it was Elendil who intervened to prevent Valandil from taking Kemen’s life.

Immediately after Valandil stopped and faced away from Kemen, Kemen, without a moment’s hesitation, plunged a knife into his back. The loss of Isildur that Miriel bears is a heavy burden, but the loss of Valandil rests on Eärien’s shoulders. It remains to be seen how she will cope with the death of one of her closest companions.

Apart from constantly grappling with the looming danger of their internal conflict, the Númenoreans face further trouble as profaning the temple brings them perilously close to Pharazôn defying the Ban of the Valar, which could ultimately lead to the downfall and destruction of Númenor.
