Although this was done to avoid upsetting fans of Lee, his arrogant lines in the scene still caused a strong reaction.
Shannon Lee was upset by how her father, Bruce Lee, was portrayed in the film, calling it both disappointing and unneeded. She felt the movie unfairly positioned him as an opponent for the white protagonist. Quentin Tarantino countered that the scene was meant to showcase the fighting abilities of Brad Pitt’s character, a war veteran. This kind of historical alteration is a common trait in Tarantino’s films, similar to the dramatic endings in movies like Inglourious Basterds.
Brad Pitt has a busy year ahead with several exciting new projects. One of the most talked-about is a sequel focusing on his popular character Cliff Booth, continuing the story from Quentin Tarantino’s films. Directed by David Fincher, the movie will explore Booth’s history as a Hollywood problem-solver and his experiences as a war veteran. Elizabeth Debicki and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are also starring in the film.
In addition to his acting, Brad Pitt is a successful producer through his company, Plan B Entertainment. He’s currently working on a new film for A24 called The Riders, and is teaming up again with Edward Berger, who directed Conclave. Despite the recent discussion around the Bruce Lee project, Pitt continues to work with highly respected directors, solidifying his position as a major force in the film industry.
