Internal strife is surfacing among the teenage survivors, as Shauna grapples with the grief of losing her child while others find solace in the wilderness’ renewal. Meanwhile, in the present day, Shauna is grappling with Natalie’s death and fearing that her child may be irreparably scarred or swayed by Lottie’s influence. Unbeknownst to Shauna, a new predicament is brewing at home for Yellowjackets season 3, as a secretive individual has left an envelope on her doorstep. Callie discovered the envelope and the cassette it contains, choosing to keep this information hidden.

What Is in the Mystery Envelope Left for Shauna in Yellowjackets Season 3, Episode 1?

At the close of episode one in season three of “Yellowjackets”, Callie, who had been reprimanded at school for pranking a group of bullies by using animal waste, believes she’s all alone at home. She possesses her mother’s feisty and retaliatory nature. A sound from the door catches her attention, revealing an undelivered brown envelope on the porch. The front bears only “Shauna Shipman” as the recipient, with the mysterious symbol from the wilderness in place of a return address.

As a devoted fan, I find it intriguing that the person who penned the note opted to use their maiden name rather than Sadecki, their married surname. Yet, the contents of the Yellowjackets season three mystery envelope remain elusive. Inside, there appears to be a compact audio tape, which Callie discretely pockets before her father unexpectedly appears and advises her to retire for the night. However, we don’t get to listen to or see the contents of that tape.

In episode two of Yellowjackets, the mystery surrounding the tape and envelope isn’t explored further after the initial mention. Callie glances at the enigmatic tape, but we don’t see her listen to it in the early episodes of season three. Neither does she disclose anything about the envelope to anyone. Instead, Callie tries to coax Lottie, who has been released from psychiatric care and is temporarily living with Shauna’s family, to reveal what transpired in the wilderness. Lottie mostly dodges her questions, but they share a connection over an absurd television show before Shauna and Jeff return home.

Who Sent That Tape to Shauna in Yellowjackets Season 3? 

In the second episode of Yellowjackets season three, there seems to be a significant clue about who’s attempting to contact Shauna through an enigmatic envelope. It’s apparent that someone is tailing her currently. While out for dinner with Jeff, she spots someone in a restaurant from a distance but chooses not to inform Van and Tai about it. Furthermore, this individual leaves a cell phone behind in the restroom while they’re dining together, which Shauna later turns in. She subsequently calls the number to find out who retrieved it.

In this scene, we alternate between a wilderness setting where Shauna uncovers evidence suggesting that Melissa, a survivor who appears to challenge Natalie’s authority, was observing Shauna relocate her baby’s remains. Taken aback, Shauna brandishes a knife and warns she will kill Melissa, but instead, Melissa initiates a kiss. Shocked initially, Shauna soon responds with a fervent kiss of her own. This suggests that 1) Melissa has managed to endure the wilderness and 2) she may have a connection to this video in Yellowjackets season three, episode two. Although it’s not confirmed that the phone belongs to Melissa, the editing of the scenes strongly implies a relationship between them.

It’s plausible that Misty may have sent the video to Shauna. Since she occasionally refers to her as “Shipman,” it could suggest that she’s trying to reconcile with the friend group. Alternatively, another survivor apart from Melissa might have discovered the tape and sent an enigmatic package containing its contents for unknown reasons.

Is Hilary Swank Playing Melissa, the Survivor That Teen Shauna Kissed, in Yellowjackets Season 3? 

It’s been confirmed that Hilary Swank will appear in “Yellowjackets” season three, yet we’re unsure about the character she’ll play. Based on events from episode two, it appears plausible that she could be Melissa. However, it remains unclear why she’s resurfacing after so long; perhaps Natalie’s death triggered her return. Alternatively, the person sending envelopes in “Yellowjackets” season 3 might not be Melissa but another character Swank is portraying.

We need to wait and observe how the current season unfolds for Shauna, and understand what implications her performance in Yellowjackets might have on her future.
