Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen have fantastic chemistry, and this new series—a blend of science fiction and romantic comedy—promises to showcase their acting talents. While the story starts with a lighthearted, somewhat unbelievable premise, it quickly delves into the complexities of a marriage. It’s more than just a humorous story about technology going awry; at its heart, it’s a story about a relationship. Here’s what Peacock has to say about it:
Inspired by a short story from Manuel Gonzales, The Miniature Wife is a funny and touching play that explores the shifting dynamics between a husband and wife, Lindy and Les, when a strange technological mishap throws their relationship into turmoil.
Let me tell you about the team behind this new show. It’s spearheaded by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner, who’ve both got impressive credits – they were key players on Boardwalk Empire and Goliath. They’re joined by Michael Aguilar (I’m Dying Up Here) and Suzanne Heathcote (Killing Eve) as executive producers, and even the stars, Banks and Macfadyen, are involved on that side of things. Media Res’ Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer, known for The Morning Show, are also producing. And to top it all off, Greg Mottola, the guy who directed Superbad, is directing several episodes – specifically numbers 1, 2, 7, and 8 – of this ten-episode season. It’s a seriously talented group, and that’s definitely promising.
The show features a talented cast including O-T Fagbenle, Zoe Lister-Jones, Sian Clifford, Sofia Rosinsky, Ronny Chieng, Aasif Mandvi, Rong Fu, and Tricia Black. All episodes will be available on Peacock starting April 9th. Hopefully, by April 10th, everyone will be enjoying the series and it will encourage people to revisit the film Downsizing.
