As a long-time Marvel fan who has lived through the highs and lows of the MCU, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation at the news that Amadeus Cho is joining the MCU fold! While the Hulk saga has had its ups and downs, especially with the change from Edward Norton to Mark Ruffalo, this new development promises an exciting twist.
2008 saw the debut of The Incredible Hulk, coinciding with Iron Man’s release. This film marked the second installation in what would later evolve into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, it is notable that this movie is among the MCU films that stir up the most debate, as it does not enjoy quite the same acclaim as other MCU productions.
One significant issue with this movie lies in the fact that they swapped Edward Norton with Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk. This swap, being the most substantial recasting yet in the MCU, stands out because it’s the unique instance where a principal character, a major hero, has been replaced.
In addition to Ruffalo’s impressive portrayal and upcoming screen time, there’s speculation – from a trusted source like DanielRPK – that the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be planning for a post-Hulk phase or perhaps even a period with two primary Hulks. If we count She-Hulk too, it could potentially mean three Hulks in the main MCU.
Just in case you’re unaware, Amadeus Cho is a comparatively recent character introduced by Marvel in 2005. The duo of Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa brought him into existence. In the contemporary tales of Marvel Comics, he has played some significant, recurring roles. He consistently appears as a superhero, but throughout his comic book adventures, he’s gone by several different aliases.
In the world of comic books, Pythagoras Dupree organizes a “genius in training” contest that Amadeus Cho competes in and effortlessly takes the top prize. To preserve his position as the sixth smartest person on the planet, Dupree tries to kill Cho. However, when Cho’s parents are brutally murdered, he manages to escape. Unfortunately, Cho’s parents don’t survive. The Hulk rescues him from some of Dupree’s henchmen, and Cho sees the Hulk as a friend and regards him as someone who reacts heroically against aggression by others.
The character next appears during the World War Hulk crossover storyline, where he gathers a group of the Hulk’s previous teammates from the Champions supergroup, including Angel and Hercules. Despite their efforts, aided by Namora, they fail to halt the Hulk. However, in The Totally Awesome Hulk #1 (2015), the role of the Hulk is assumed by Cho, who adopts the name Brawn. Different from Banner, Cho embraces his new abilities with confidence, unlike Banner who perceived his Hulk powers as a burden.
Why this introduction? Well, look at the tweet:

It’s clear that DanielRPK states Amadeus Cho is joining the MCU, with Logan Kim from ‘Ghostbusters’ set to portray him. This choice for casting certainly looks promising. So far, there are no specific plot details available, but it appears Marvel may be planning ahead, considering Cho might initially appear in a minor role before taking on a more significant one, perhaps even stepping into the Hulk’s shoes or working alongside him. Regardless, this seems to be an exciting turn of events!
