Andy Bailey, the creator behind Andymation, has an ambitious goal: to create the ultimate flipbook. He’s attempting to recreate the entire first *Lord of the Rings* movie, *The Fellowship of the Ring*, using an incredible 120,000 individual drawings. He’s calling it “The FlipBook of the Rings” and, like Frodo in the story, he needs your help to complete this massive project.
On top of everything else, Peter Jackson is also a big supporter of this project.
There are two undeniable truths: you can revisit *The Lord of the Rings* endlessly, and there’s no single ‘right’ way to enjoy it. Now, Andy Bailey is giving fans the chance to do both-and he’s approaching it in a uniquely creative way that likely no one has thought of before.
Bailey calls his massive project the world’s biggest flipbook, and it’s likely true – we’d certainly have heard of a bigger one by now. He’s attempting to recreate the nearly three-hour movie using an incredible 120,000 hand-drawn images!
Creating this flipbook is a huge undertaking, which is why the artist, Bailey, invited others to collaborate. Luckily, there’s a large community of talented and enthusiastic fans of Middle-earth who were happy to help – over 1,000 people have contributed so far! About a month ago, Bailey estimated they’d finished around 20% of the movie. While many scenes are already taken, new ones are constantly being added, so there’s still a chance to get involved. If you’re selected, Peter Jackson himself will see your contribution! Bailey has confirmed that Jackson and his team are aware of the project and are very impressed. Jackson is planning to watch the completed flipbook when Bailey premieres it.
