THE LONG WALK Trailer Promises a Horrifying New Stephen King Classic Film

Many of Stephen King’s adaptations have become timeless classics, such as “The Shining” and “Carrie.” He is undeniably a master of horror whose stories continue to strike a chord with audiences as more of them are brought to life on screen. The latest adaptation, the film version of “Salem’s Lot,” was quite enjoyable, I must say. However, the upcoming Stephen King story to hit the big screen is particularly significant because it was his first novel. The trailer for “The Long Walk” effectively conveys the book’s chilling atmosphere and promises to be another classic Stephen King film.

If you’re not already aware, Stephen King wrote a novel under the pseudonym Richard Bachman in 1979. The story takes place in an alternate, dystopian America and revolves around the Long Walk, a televised competition where one hundred young men must walk continuously along U.S. Route 1.

Essentially, the person who endures until the end emerges victorious, but reaching that point isn’t easy. The reason being, one must persist without stopping and maintain a speed above an established minimum throughout. They receive warnings and if they slow down, they risk elimination. In essence, this is exactly what a survival game or marathon race entails.

The preview for “The Long Walk” introduces Mark Hamill as the authoritarian Major, overseeing a ruthless competition. We’re introduced to various participants, among them our main character, Raymond Garraty, portrayed by Cooper Hoffman. The situation is brutal, with contestants forced to walk almost continually without end, leading to severe physical and mental strain. Ouch!
