As a long-time fan who has followed Agatha’s journey since her debut in WandaVision, I must admit that Episode 5 of Agatha All Along left me reeling. The revelation that Agatha is indeed irredeemably evil was not entirely unexpected, but the manner in which it unfolded was nothing short of chilling.
In yesterday’s Episode 5 of ‘Agatha All Along’, it was revealed that Billy Kaplan, also recognized as the Teen character, is indeed a Wiccan. Contrastingly, Agatha’s true nature was shown to be beyond redemption. Initially, viewers had anticipated a potential “Loki-style” transformation for Agatha during her interactions with the Teen and Rio Vidal at the start of the episode. Regrettably, Episode 5 dashed those hopes.
In the most recent episode, the group encounters the Trial of Spirits, an ordeal set within Agatha’s realm. The initial spirit they meet is that of Evanora Harkness – Agatha’s mom and the head of the Salem coven.
To ensure Agatha faces punishment for her transgressions, Agatha’s mother insists that the coven hand Agatha over to her custody during the trial, emphasizing Agatha’s numerous power-seeking offenses committed over her unusually prolonged lifespan.
Agatha is taken aback when she discovers that her mother has held such intense animosity towards her for so long. Evanora underscores this sentiment by suggesting that she should have terminated Agatha’s life at birth, which seems to imply that Agatha was inherently wicked from the start.
Later, Evanora takes control of Agatha and makes another attempt on the group. However, this time, Alice Wu steps in, employing her fire magic to aid Agatha in resisting her mother’s power.
In the blink of an eye, Agatha saps Alice of both her magical energy and vitality, reducing her to an empty vessel. Unfortunately, with Alice’s demise, any chance of bringing her back is gone.
Angry, the Teen challenges Agatha over her deeds. Unrepentant, Agatha admits to slaying a fellow coven member, arguing that everyone, such as the Teen, is driven by the pursuit of power.
In that instant, the teenager suddenly lost his grip and shoved Agatha, as well as Lilia Calderu and Jennifer Kale, towards what seems like enchanted quicksand within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The outcome of their situations is left unclear in the storyline.
At first, Agatha stated she unintentionally depleted Alice’s powers, asserting it was beyond her control. Yet, the rest of their coven suspected her of dishonesty. Delving into Agatha’s history, we find clues suggesting her thirst for power knows no bounds, as she may have even sacrificed her own son to Mephisto in order to obtain the Darkhold. Furthermore, it’s been shown in ‘WandaVision’ that one member of their coven, Mrs. Hart, met her demise due to Agatha’s relentless pursuit of power.
It appears plausible that Agatha considers her coven as dispensable, ready to give up any one of them to reclaim her original power.
