The Last of Us Season 2 Star Kaitlyn Dever Dishes on Her ‘Chilling’ Character and Plans for Pedro Pascal’s Joel

The second season of “The Last of Us” promises to be dramatically intense, and viewers should prepare themselves for the extraordinary. Since the series closely follows the game’s narrative, we have our version of Abby, portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever.

In a recent interview, the actress provided insights into the nature of her character and upcoming developments involving Joel and Ellie, the compelling pair from The Last of Us who have captivated viewers since the show’s debut in season one.

The initial episode of this season starts with Abby saying, “When we eliminate him, we do it gradually,” which is a particularly chilling remark about Joel. Kaitlyn Dever shared with The Hollywood Reporter that this specific quote is indeed quite chilling.

She’s as cold as frozen royalty, but seen differently, it’s an open display of sorrow under the spotlight, unadorned and vulnerable.” The actress further explained.

Regarding Abby, Kaitlyn Dever shared that at that point, all Abby could focus on was seeking revenge instead of improving her own situation.

The actress from Last Man Standing conveyed that she’s shattered, sorrowful, disoriented, and attempting to put herself back together.

For those unfamiliar, Abby hails from the remnants of the Fireflies, a faction that Joel confronted at the close of The Last of Us’s first season. This group intended to perform a procedure on Ellie which, had it succeeded, could have taken her life.

Nevertheless, during their confrontation, Joel ended up killing Abby’s father who was part of the Fireflies. The subsequent episode, titled “Future Days,” starts off with Abby delivering emotional lines before advancing the narrative five years into the future.
