THE LAST OF US Season 2 Releases First Trailer, Confirms 5 Year Time Jump

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating the post-apocalyptic world of The Last of Us, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and dread as I watch the trailer for season two. Five years of peace is always too good to be true in this world, and the logline confirms my suspicions – Joel and Ellie are set for another heart-wrenching journey filled with danger and internal conflicts.

The first trailer for season two of “The Last of Us” has been unveiled, and it’s nothing short of spectacular. The series plotline hints at a five-year time leap between seasons, which is logical to advance the story. Brace yourselves, as when season two of “The Last of Us” premieres, our hearts are bound to be shattered. Initially, everything appears serene and idyllic, but we know such tranquility can’t last forever. As time passes, our beloved characters will undoubtedly face hardship and peril from both internal and external sources, as well as from humans and the infected alike. Whew! This glimpse into “The Last of Us” is certainly intriguing, and it also offers a sneak peek at several characters from “The Last of Us – Part II” that we’re equally excited and anxious to witness.

In addition to the trailer, HBO released a logline for The Last of Us season two, which reads:

Five tranquil years have passed since the happenings of the initial season, but the shared history of Joel and Ellie comes back to haunt them. This rekindles discord between them and thrusts them into a perilous and erratic world that surpasses in danger and unpredictability the one they once departed.

Certainly not a confrontation between them, but it’s clear that something is amiss due to Joel’s significant deception of Ellie at the end of The Last of Us season one. If only he had been truthful, perhaps things might have turned out differently. However, we don’t tune in to shows expecting characters to make wise choices, do we?

Beyond Joel and Ellie, the trailer unveils some long-awaited characters from The Last of Us series. To be honest, we are THRILLED to witness Isabela Merced’s portrayal of Dina in live action. The chemistry and bond between her character and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie in this trailer is palpable. Of course, we also get a glimpse of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby for the first time… Everyone familiar with The Last of Us knows the ominous shadows this character casts. Yet, we can’t help but look forward to seeing her bring the role to life on screen.

The Last of Us season two will arrive in 2025.

This is a developing story.
