As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that my favorite series, “The Last of Us,” is set to keep me entertained for another round! HBO has officially greenlit a third season for this captivating show, even before the premiere of its second season this weekend. Yes, you heard it right – we’re in for more post-apocalyptic adventures with “The Last of Us” Season 3!
Enthusiasts of HBO’s “The Last of Us” have a grand reason to rejoice! This Sunday, April 13, marks the start of the seven-episode second season. Essentially, this means that after the second season, we can consider it as the show’s third year in the series. Excitingly, HBO has already given the go-ahead for the next chapter, season three!
This news isn’t unexpected, but the timing could still catch some off guard. One might wonder why they’re making the announcement so early, given the current high levels of excitement. In my review for TopMob, I pointed out that despite the otherwise stellar season, it feels unfinished. It seems HBO is attempting to console viewers who share this sentiment at the end of the second installment.
Francesca Orsi, HBO’s Executive Vice President for Programming, Head of Drama Series and Films, couldn’t stress enough how proud HBO is of the exceptional accomplishment they believe the second season of The Last of Us has achieved. In a statement, she praised Craig, Neil, Carolyn, and the whole executive producer team, cast, and crew for producing an impressive sequel. They’re excited to continue the journey of Craig and Neil’s storytelling into what they anticipate will be another emotionally impactful and extraordinary third season.
The upcoming series is set to bring a new element to the video game franchise – a third installment – but Mazin has clarified that the show won’t extend beyond the events depicted in the second game. This means that while the show may not follow the timeline of additional games, you can expect all the necessary details to be covered by the end of season two.
