‘The Hunting Party’ Premiere Pushed Up on NBC

Actress Melissa Roxburgh, recognized for her role as Mick Stone in the series “Manifest”, is set to shine in a fresh limelight. Her upcoming NBC crime drama, “The Hunting Party”, has advanced its release date, generating buzz with its imminent premiere.

In the upcoming series, Roxburgh – known for her roles as Lieutenant Ellen Grier in Quantum Leap and Dr. Dory Shaw in Tracker – steps into her primary character yet again, marking her first significant role since Manifest.

As TVLine reports, the premiere of “The Hunting Party” is set for Sunday, January 19 at 7 p.m. ET. A sneak peek will be offered initially, and later, on Monday, February 3 at 10 p.m. ET, a replay of the episode will air. From then on, fresh episodes will become available every Monday night. NBC seems to be hoping that this approach will generate early interest in the series.

The show, produced by JJ Bailey, who’s likewise engaged in Getaway, focuses on the character of Bex Henderson, portrayed by Roxburgh. Bex, a former FBI Special Agent, is pursuing dangerous fugitives who managed to break free from a covert federal penitentiary following a huge blast, with the aim of apprehending them.

The group overseen by her comprises figures such as CIA agent Ryan Hassani (Patrick Sabongui), army intelligence officer Jennifer Morales (Sara Garcia), correctional officer Shane Florence (Josh McKenzie), and her ex-partner Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler).

This initial debut strategy is similar to what CBS did with Matlock, airing its first episode before the usual schedule, which helped the series pick up momentum and secure an early renewal for season 2. NBC’s plan to broadcast The Hunting Party on a Sunday night aims to attract a larger audience that might tune in during the following Monday evening slot.

As a supporter, I believe it’s a clever strategy by NBC to introduce us early to Bex Henderson’s thrilling chase with The Hunting Party. With its captivating cast and pulse-pounding plot, this show has the potential to make a significant impact in NBC’s programming schedule, much like Manifest did with Roxburgh.
