As a lifelong Marvel enthusiast with a soft spot for the X-Men, I must say that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has truly outdone itself this summer! The blend of legacy characters and fresh faces has been nothing short of exhilarating.
As a long-time comic book fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the Marvel universe, I can confidently say that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is shaping up to be one of the most exciting films of the summer. With its blend of commercial and critical success, it’s clear that this movie has resonated with audiences and critics alike. The reason for this success, in my opinion, lies in the film’s clever use of legacy characters alongside fresh additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Having grown up reading these iconic characters, I can appreciate the care and attention to detail that went into their portrayal on screen. I have no doubt that this film will continue to break records and leave a lasting impact on fans of all ages.
Audience members were excited to witness Dafne Keen reappear as X-23, Snipes as Blade, Garner as Elektra, and Evans as Human Torch once more. Moreover, Channing Tatum‘s dream of portraying Gambit finally came true, a role he had yearned for over almost a decade.
Recently, Keen had a chat with Phase Zero, revealing some intriguing details about her persona. She affirmed that she will once again embody the character she played in ‘Logan,’ which hit theaters in 2017. Furthermore, she made it clear that she is not a different version of this character. Keen exuded enthusiasm over going back to work on a superhero film set and hinted at her readiness to play the role again if asked.
Apart from jokingly expressing her annoyance with Channing Tatum on set, she mentioned he was chatty, or as she put it, he wouldn’t stop talking. When queried about the movie scene where Tatum’s Gambit exclaims “wooimbouttamakeanameformyselfere!“, Keen confessed that Gambit’s lines were tricky for her to memorize and deliver while filming.
Brandon, I needed to inform him that while delivering my line, his dialogue didn’t fit. It kept disrupting the scene as I was trying to maintain a serious Wolverine-like demeanor, but instead, I found myself blurting out “let’s get going” and then he’d say something inappropriate like: “Yeah, he was spreading those buttery nuts all over my mom.” I had to tell him to stop, explaining that I was focused on my role, and his constant interruptions were making it difficult. Even when he said “I’m about to make a name for myself,” I shook my head in disapproval. He just wouldn’t stop talking during the scene.
If you haven’t watched the film yet, it seems everyone’s raving about Channing Tatum’s Cajun accent in the role of Gambit. Fan reactions are split: while some admire it as exceptional, others find it a bit uncomfortable to listen to.
Regardless, Tatum and Keen seem to have great on-set chemistry, and we’d love to see them team up again in the MCU!
