In the bonus mission “Final Conquest” within the game “The First Berserker: Khazan“, there’s an optional enemy you can battle, known as the “Mutated Xilence”.
Paying close attention may help you notice that your current boss resembles one from an earlier stage in the game. The strategies that worked for the initial encounter should still apply here. However, do bear in mind there are significant changes to watch out for if you aim to come out on top!
Read on and we’ll tell you everything you need to know to defeat Mutated Xilence.
How to Beat Mutated Xilence | The First Berserker: Khazan – Boss Guide
To begin with, it’s important to point out that the Mutated Xilence is essentially a redesigned version of Viper during its second phase. Consequently, most of the information provided in our Viper boss guide remains relevant. The primary difference between these two battles lies in just a few aspects.
Initially, it’s important to acknowledge the slight variations. The mutated Xilence, compared to Viper, moves a bit more slowly and feels less agile in general. Be cautious, as its slower attack pace might catch you off guard!
Moreover, unlike Viper, Mutated Xilence doesn’t use the constant darkness as a means to conceal itself. On the contrary, Mutated Xilence tends to stick near you rather than engaging in games of hide and seek with the dim light.
Beyond the minor adjustments, there’s a significant distinction that serves as a unique selling point for this battle, differentiating it from Viper’s encounter. Unraveling this distinctive feature could be decisive in winning, so let’s delve into it together.
Watch Out For The Horns
Initially, the altered form of Xilence seems almost invulnerable to harm. However, if you attack him, your strikes will ricochet off and leave you vulnerable instead! To inflict damage on him, it’s crucial that you aim for his horns located atop his head first. This is most effectively done when the boss has lowered his head towards the ground following his slam attacks.
As a fan of this game, I’d like to point out an interesting observation: Greatswords and Dual Wield weapons seem to have a better chance of striking the monsters’ horns due to their broader attack ranges compared to Spears. For those who prefer using Spears, my suggestion would be to maximize the use of Moonlight and Full Moon abilities as they might help in landing hits on the horns more effectively.
Keep hammering on Mutated Xilence’s head as much as you can. Breaking the horns will cause significant damage to the boss, often reducing its health to approximately 20% to 25%. Additionally, he’ll be temporarily stunned, giving you an opportunity to inflict additional damage!
Moving forward, you’re free to inflict damage as usual without worrying about targeting the head specifically anymore. In addition, the darkness enshrouding the arena will lift, enhancing your vision. Essentially, he’s become a less potent and slower version of Viper. Just be cautious and wrap this up. You’ve got him at a significant disadvantage now!
And that’s it! To conquer the mutated Xilence boss battle in The First Berserker: Khazan, simply shatter those horns for victory!
