The Fantastic Four Head to Wakanda in Fourth AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Trailer

The latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday shows Shuri (Letitia Wright) sporting new armor and discussing the pain of loss, as well as a king’s duty to protect his people. These lines are shown alongside footage of Atlanteans and Namor (Tenoch Huerta), suggesting Namor might be the king referenced. We see Shuri walking with King M’Baku (Winston Duke) and the Dora Milaje through a desert landscape. M’Baku then meets Ben Grimm, also known as The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), from The Fantastic Four.

This short meeting perfectly captures the essence of Ben Grimm. The new Avengers: Doomsday trailer also showcases a significant moment for Marvel Comics fans: the first appearance of Black Panther and Wakanda, which originally happened in Fantastic Four issue #52. While Namor, also known as the Sub-Mariner, debuted way back in 1939, he was reintroduced in Fantastic Four #5 and has been a long-time rival to Reed Richards for Sue Storm’s affections. Seeing the Fantastic Four share the screen with both Namor and Wakanda is a long-awaited moment for fans.

It’s still unconfirmed whether Namor will interact with the Fantastic Four in Avengers: Doomsday—they don’t meet in the trailer. However, the trailer strongly suggests the Fantastic Four’s ship has crash-landed in the desert, potentially even in Wakanda. It appears Shuri and M’Baku are acting as Earth’s representatives, and they don’t realize the Thing isn’t an alien. Another writer, Eric Diaz, thinks the teasers focusing on children and potential loss suggest the Fantastic Four have come to our universe seeking help to rescue Franklin Richards from Doctor Doom.

Honestly, while the rumors about certain characters are interesting, I’m way more hyped about seeing the X-Men and Fantastic Four join the MCU. Don’t get me wrong, I like Captain America and Thor, but those two teams entering the picture just feels like a bigger deal to me.

Avengers: Doomsday will premiere on December 18, 2026.
