In a fresh take on science fiction, the upcoming movie titled “The Electric State” is the brainchild of the creative minds behind “Avengers: Endgame,” the Russo Brothers. This intriguing tale unfolds in a bleak, post-apocalyptic setting, chronicling the exciting journey of a young girl.
Based on Simon Stålenhag’s 2018 graphic novel “The Electric State”, the upcoming film features Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt and will premiere on Netflix on March 14th.
The tale centers on a young orphan called Michelle (Brown) who joins forces with a puzzling robot and a chatty smuggler named Keats (Pratt). Their goal is to track down the missing sibling she has not seen for quite some time.
The movie’s setting is post-apocalyptic, following a catastrophic conflict between humans and robots. In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Joe Russo characterized this film as a blend of action, adventure, and comedy, yet it also carries a deeper emotional resonance.
The director shared that certain deep-rooted topics in this film bear a resemblance to their past projects within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite being marketed as a commercial production, it delves into heavy subject matter in a manner that offers audiences an engaging and immersive narrative journey.
Beyond being thrilled about sharing the screen with Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things and Chris Pratt of Jurassic World, I simply can’t contain my excitement knowing that stellar talents like Stanley Tucci, Ke Huy Quan, and Giancarlo Esposito are also part of this amazing cast. What a dream come true!
In addition to Alan Tudyk, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, and Colman Domingo, several other stars have contributed their vocal talents to the film’s robot characters.
In simpler terms, Joe Russo shared that the robots in The Electric State were modeled after designs from Disney’s archive collection. Although these robots were given feelings and moral consciousness, they still maintained a touch of Disney charm.
These robots have transformed into operational yet aesthetically pleasing and non-intimidating automatons, as Joe put it. In simpler terms, he described them as intriguing, cartoon-like robots with distinct personalities.
