The Electric State Fails to Earn Fame Despite 320 Million USD Budget and High-Profile Cast Including Millie Bobbie Brown

In simpler terms, the latest expensive sci-fi production by Netflix, titled “The Electric State“, fails to impress, despite boasting a well-known cast and promising blockbuster potential.

On March 14th, the $320 million film, helmed by Joe and Anthony Russo and featuring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, swiftly claimed Netflix’s top spot for the week. By the end of a few short days, it ranked first in an impressive 47 countries and made it into the Top 10 in a whopping 93 regions across the globe. The film garnered a staggering 53.8 million hours of viewership, which equates to approximately 25.2 million views.

Despite the early viewership numbers, it appears that “The Electric State” trails behind Netflix’s top all-time money makers. To give you a sense of scale, “Red Notice” racked up an impressive 148.7 million viewing hours during its premiere week, while “Don’t Look Up” reached 111.03 million. As of now, the new project from the Russo brothers is only positioned at 15th in terms of first-week viewings, surpassing “Rebel Moon” by a slim margin.

The film is struggling to gain favorable reviews, with only a 15% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Many critics find it visually impressive but criticize its lack of emotional depth and slow pacing in storytelling. Contrastingly, audiences seem to appreciate it more, as reflected by a 6.0 rating on IMDb and a 74% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In their collection for the film, the Russo brothers brought together a group of familiar Marvel associates such as Chris Pratt, Anthony Mackie, and Stanley Tucci along with others like Brown. However, despite this impressive ensemble cast, the movie hasn’t managed to generate the traction on Netflix that they likely hoped for.

Drawing inspiration from Simon Stålenhag’s captivating art book, I envision a chilling 1990s narrative where synthetic machines have rebelled against humanity. In this desolate setting, I find myself as a resilient teenager navigating through the wreckage, aided by a loyal robotic companion lent voice by Mackie.

Although the movie might not make it to Netflix’s list of top 10 ever-popular films, Millie Bobby Brown remains a beloved figure on streaming platforms. She’s set to resume her role in Enola Holmes 3 in April, and there are further projects in the pipeline for her.

The Electric State is currently streaming on Netflix.
