It seems like games with a ‘6’ in the title really make fans wait! Both GTA 6 and The Elder Scrolls 6 are hugely anticipated, and while we’re finally getting close to playing GTA 6, a new Elder Scrolls game still feels a long way off.
It’s understandable why fans are frustrated with the latest trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6. It’s actually the only trailer that’s been released for the game, and it came out seven years ago.
The Elder Scrolls 6 Is Still A Long Way Off
Every day is a struggle
The first trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 is getting attention again after Bethesda’s Todd Howard shared some disappointing news about how far along the role-playing game’s development is.
In a recent interview with GQ, Howard stated that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still years away from release. He encouraged fans to be patient and avoid getting worried about its development.
Surprisingly, Howard also stated, completely seriously, that he prefers not to reveal release dates, which often means fans end up waiting a very long time to find out when the game will actually come out.
He prefers to reveal and launch things unexpectedly. Ideally, he’d like to take a long time developing a game and then release it as a surprise, though he admits that might not happen.
It would be fine if Bethesda hadn’t revealed The Elder Scrolls 6 back in 2018. Since then, we’ve been waiting seven years for any updates, and fans are understandably frustrated.
The Elder Scrolls Fans Aren’t Impressed
At this point, can you blame them?
Even now, people are still commenting on Bethesda’s YouTube video of the Elder Scrolls 6 trailer, mostly to joke about how long ago it came out.
Fans are expressing frustration with the long development time, with one saying nearly eight years is “absolutely ridiculous.” Another joked that the video announcing the game will be a decade old before the game itself is released.
Gamers on Reddit have noticed something unsettling: it’s been longer since The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced (7 years and 5 months) than the time between the release of Skyrim and the announcement of TES6 (6 years and 7 months). This is why they’re so frustrated with the recent teasers, which don’t actually reveal anything about The Elder Scrolls series.
Unfortunately, all we can do right now is wait for news about The Elder Scrolls 6. We can rewatch the 2018 trailer sometimes, but it’s a bit of a reminder that the game might take a very long time to come out – possibly even after we’re gone!
