The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers, recently visited The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. During the show, Jimmy Fallon challenged them to build a miniature version of Stranger Things 5‘s ending using Funko Pop figures. It’s hard to say how much of what they showed is a real spoiler, but they definitely seemed to put a lot of thought into it. You can see the almost-complete scene they created below – they just suggested adding Hopper near Eleven and Robin next to Jonathan to finish it.
Here’s a breakdown of what appears to happen in the ending of Stranger Things 5, according to the Duffer Brothers. We see Holly, Max, Derek, and surprisingly, Nancy. It looks like Nancy somehow enters the strange, fleshy wall where Vecna is holding Max and Holly – the same place Derek seems to be going after Vecna grabbed him at the end of the first part of the season.
Eleven is currently submerged in water, which likely means she’s recreating a sensory deprivation tank to boost her powers—hopefully she’s not drowning! The final scene we’ve seen from Stranger Things shows a layered image of Henry, then Will, and finally Vecna. In a preview clip, Joyce suggests Will might be able to enter Vecna’s mind again and defeat him. Could this layered image be a visual representation of that happening?

In the latest glimpse of the Stranger Things 5 finale, Joyce, Lucas, Dustin, Mike, and Jonathan are all together. Interestingly, Jonathan isn’t with Nancy, and neither is Steve. Could this finally mean the end of the love triangle? We’re hoping the Duffer Brothers are hinting at that! We also want to see Dustin and Steve reconnect and become friends again. But more than anything, we’re worried about Steve—he keeps almost falling, and the show seems to be hinting at his death. Duffer Brothers, please don’t kill Steve in the Stranger Things 5 ending!

We eventually see Hopper, Eleven, Robin, and Erica all together. Their placement doesn’t really hint at anything specific. Interestingly, the Duffer Brothers quickly removed the Barb doll. While we know Barb is gone, many fans still held out hope for a possible resurrection in the final season of Stranger Things. It also makes you wonder where the Eddie Munson doll is.
It’s still unclear if recent reports accurately describe how the final season of Stranger Things will end, according to the Duffer Brothers. We’ll know for sure when Volume 2 releases on Netflix on December 25, 2025, at 5pm Pacific Time / 8pm Eastern Time. Volume 1 of the final season is available to stream now.
