Fans of *Stranger Things* are eagerly awaiting the fifth and final season. The creators, the Duffer Brothers, have started revealing details about the first four episodes, hinting at a big mid-season finale. They’ve recently shared some initial plot points for these episodes. Here’s a summary of what the Duffers have revealed about the first part of the three-part conclusion, often referred to as “Volume One,” and everything else we know so far.
The Duffer Brothers Reveal Episode Details for Stranger Things 5, Volume One
Chapters One and Two of Stranger Things 5 Are Absolutely Insane Episodes
Recently, fans got a sneak peek at the first two episodes of *Stranger Things 5*. On August 3rd, Ross Duffer shared a hint on Instagram, but left some mystery around what to expect from “Chapter Two.”
Okay, so I just got a peek at the first episode of *Stranger Things 5*, and let me tell you, it’s a strong start! The Duffer Brothers themselves said it’s their favorite opening episode since the very beginning – they’re calling it ‘The Crawl,’ and it really sets the stage for what promises to be a wild final season. It’s packed with action and sets things off with a real bang.
However, when discussing the second episode of *Stranger Things 5*, the Duffer brothers were a little more hesitant but also more open. They shared some details about what to expect in Chapter Two.
The creators of the show said the first scene of ‘The Vanishing of…’ is their most ambitious and exciting cold open yet, and a highlight of the entire season.
This episode’s title echoes the very first episode of the series, “The Vanishing of Will Byers.” However, the title is partially obscured, leading viewers to speculate about which character might be in trouble this time. Many fans believe Holly Wheeler, Mike’s little sister, could be the one in danger.
Chapters Three and Four of Stranger Things 5 Are Classic Stranger Things Episodes
I was so thrilled to see the Duffers announce that Volumes One of *Stranger Things 5* is finished! They shared that Chapters Three and Four were truly something special. They even called Episode Three, ‘The Turnbow Trap,’ the most classically *Stranger Things* episode of the whole season – packed with everything we love! And get this – it was directed by Frank Darabont, a director they hugely admire – the guy behind *Shawshank Redemption*, *The Green Mile*, and *The Walking Dead*! Apparently, he even came out of retirement to direct it, and they said he absolutely nailed it. As a fan, I can’t wait to see it!
Duffer goes on to tease “Chapter Four,” entitled “Sorcerer,” as “MASSIVE.”
He described the season five finale as the largest and most challenging shoot they’ve ever undertaken, saying they’re still recovering from it. Like the entire series, this fifth season, “Volume One,” promises to be epic. Fans are eagerly anticipating more details about the final episodes of *Stranger Things*.
What We Know So Far About Stranger Things 5
The final season of *Stranger Things* will have eight episodes released in three stages. The first four will be available on Netflix November 26th, adding some spooky fun to the holiday season. Then, episodes five through seven will arrive on December 25th, with the last episode airing just a few days later on December 31st. Episode titles have already been revealed, and fans are excitedly sharing their predictions about the story.
Season five will begin with a significant jump forward in time, starting in the fall of 1987 – over a year after the events of season four. The creators, the Duffer brothers, have said the new season will be fast-paced from the beginning, with no slow build-up. Netflix has also confirmed that season five will have a more mature rating than previous seasons, which were rated TV-14.
Once the story reaches its fourth season, things won’t return to normal, according to co-creator Matt Duffer. He told Collider that the show will maintain a fast pace and high level of intensity from the very start.
The Duffer Brothers haven’t announced how long each episode will be, but it’s safe to say that season five will be a huge and epic conclusion to the series.

Where We Left Off in Stranger Things 4
The fourth season of *Stranger Things* centered on the group of friends from Hawkins as they battled Vecna, a terrifying enemy lurking in the alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. Vecna, originally named Henry Creel (played by Jamie Campbell Bower), is a frightening character with powerful psychic abilities. Like Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Henry was subjected to experiments as a child by Dr. Brenner (Matthew Brenner) at the Hawkins lab. After Eleven defeated him and banished him to the Upside Down, he returned as Vecna, seeking revenge on the town of Hawkins.
What started as a series of murders quickly became a terrifying interdimensional battle as Vecna’s power increased. Eleven, along with Mike, Will, Dustin, Max, Lucas, Steve, Nancy, and Robin, joined forces to try and defeat Vecna and protect their town. Sadly, they weren’t successful.
At the end of the last season, things are dire for the heroes of Hawkins. Max is in a coma, Vecna’s power has grown, and the boundary between the real world and the Upside Down is weakening. The group needs to come together and finally defeat this terrifying enemy.
Who’s Coming Back?
Season five will bring back most of the original cast, including Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Amybeth McNulty as Vickie, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna/Henry Creel, and Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair.
I’m so excited for season five! They’re adding some great new faces to the cast, like Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and even Linda Hamilton from *The Terminator*! It’s going to be amazing.
Unanswered Questions
The season four finale was full of cliffhangers and left viewers with many unanswered questions, like whether Max will recover and if Hawkins can be saved from the Upside Down. While we don’t have those answers yet, fans are eagerly anticipating what happens next and have come up with countless theories about the future of the show.
One of the most popular fan theories revolves around the possible return of Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). In season four, Eddie tragically died protecting his friends in the Upside Down. Many believe he could come back in some form, drawing a connection to the Dungeons & Dragons character Kas the Bloody-Handed. Kas is killed by Vecna but later resurrected as a vampire, leading fans to speculate a similar fate could await Eddie.
While it hasn’t been officially announced, it would be amazing if the well-known leader of the Hellfire Club returned for the last season.
Everyone expects Eleven to be central to the show’s final showdown. One popular idea is that she’ll have to defeat Vecna, but at a huge cost – taking his place as the ruler of the Upside Down. While it’s a plausible theory, it would mean a sad ending for Eleven, as she’d have to leave her father and boyfriend.
Many fans believe Will Byers will be important in the final season. His initial disappearance kicked off all the strange events in Hawkins, and it would be a satisfying conclusion to see him play a key part in the last showdown.
One Last Adventure
The Duffer Brothers are promising a thrilling final season, and fans are eagerly awaiting the conclusion of this beloved story. Many are revisiting the series to prepare, and Reddit users have calculated that watching one episode each day starting October 23rd will have you ready for the finale.
Stranger Things 5 premieres on Netflix on November 26.
