The Creepiest Popcorn Bucket Ever: AMC’s ‘The Monkey’ Will Haunt Your Snack Time

Typically, we acquire popcorn buckets from large studio movies such as Deadpool & Wolverine or Dune. However, for the first time ever, an independent studio called NEON is teaming up with AMC Theatres to offer a collectible popcorn bucket. Unlike other popcorn containers, this one will undoubtedly give you chills, whether you watch the movie or not. The new collectible popcorn tub for Osgood Perkins’ latest horror film The Monkey bears a striking resemblance to the central prop in the movie’s storyline – a classic wind-up toy. This 85-ounce bucket features arms that can be moved up and down to mimic drumming. You can find images of this incredibly eerie popcorn bucket below:

Last year, filmmaker Osgood Perkins offered a chilling, retro-style horror experience with the movie “Longlegs“, featuring Nicolas Cage. Now, he’s bringing to life a timeless Stephen King short story in a film produced by renowned horror producer James Wan. The tale, titled “The Monkey“, was initially published in the 1985 anthology “Skeleton Crew“. In this story, two brothers discover a peculiar wind-up monkey toy. Not long after, an unsettling series of deaths shatters their family. A quarter of a century later, the cursed toy resumes its deadly rampage, compelling the distant brothers to unite and destroy the evil monkey once and for all. It’s surprising it took this long for a horror movie about such eerie toys to surface, but we’re glad it’s finally here!

Did you know? In contrast to Stephen King’s original tale, the toy monkey in the new movie, ‘The Monkey,’ beats drums instead of cymbals. This change is due to Disney’s ownership of the cymbal sound rights, thanks to their popular ‘Toy Story’ franchise. Isn’t that fascinating?

Starring an impressive cast including Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy, ‘The Monkey’ will be released in theaters everywhere on February 21.

And here’s a fun treat: If you visit your local AMC Theatres, you can grab a popcorn bucket with a large serving of popcorn for just $44.99 (plus tax). Enjoy the movie!
