‘The Boys’ Star Valorie Curry Calls Out Fans Who “Demand” Inappropriate Things on Fan Conventions

As a dedicated fan who has closely followed “The Boys” since its inception, I can wholeheartedly express my solidarity with Valorie Curry, the remarkable actress who brought Firecracker to life so brilliantly. Her recent ordeal at the Belfast Comic Con was nothing short of appalling, a stark reminder that certain individuals, masquerading as fans, have no business calling themselves so.

In June 13, 2024, the fourth season of “The Boys” premiered and wrapped up on July 18, 2024. It received positive reviews and attracted a large audience, however, due to its satirical political content, it faced negative backlash from some fans who resorted to review-bombing. The production team, rather than being affected by this, even went as far as publicly mocking and criticizing these toxic fans. Eric Kripke, in particular, advised these dissatisfied viewers to simply stop watching the show.

This season turned out to be exceptionally fruitful and one of the factors contributing to its success were the fresh characters introduced, some of which will make a comeback in Season 5. One such character is Firecracker, portrayed by actress Valorie Curry, who added significant intrigue to the series.

On multiple occasions, we’ve covered both the actress’s role and her statements. However, the actress has found herself back in the limelight following an unfortunate incident in Belfast. She recently spoke out online, expressing her disapproval towards certain fan behavior.

At present, Valorie Curry is in Belfast, Northern Ireland, participating in the Northern Ireland Comic Con. As part of the event, she’s on a series panel and interacted with fans while dressed up. It seemed that the fans could meet her, discuss topics, and possibly obtain an autograph or photo. However, two individuals (not truly fans, in our opinion) overstepped boundaries, and though Valorie hasn’t disclosed details, she has made it clear through a video posted online that such behavior is unacceptable.

Hi everyone! I’ve just returned from my first day at Comic-Con in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Overall, the experience was wonderful, but it’s important to discuss boundaries and appropriate behavior. While I appreciate the enthusiasm of fans who recognize me from ‘The Boys,’ demanding certain actions from me in person at my booth is not acceptable or funny. Unfortunately, someone did this repeatedly today, despite my clear signals that it was unwelcome. This made both parties angry. I thought this wouldn’t happen, but it seems I needed to clarify. My discomfort was evident, and I want to continue attending conventions to engage with fans and discuss the characters I portrayed – something I genuinely enjoy. However, I won’t be able to do so if people behave inappropriately, as it makes me uncomfortable, and I expect better from you all. Everyone else seems to understand this, and again, I’m not sure what reaction you were hoping for when no one was laughing.

From the comments, it seems quite evident what the fans were asking for – fair treatment for the actress. Regardless, we wholeheartedly back her up because such conduct is uncalled for, particularly when directed at women. Here’s hoping she never faces anything like this again, and let’s pray that this was an isolated incident.
