As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the rise and fall of gaming giants to the evolution of storytelling within games themselves. In this digital age, where politics often seep into every nook and cranny, even our beloved superhero shows like ‘The Boys’ can’t escape the political fray.
In their fourth installment, ‘The Boys’ has just dropped. Although the series had a strong political undertone since its debut, the creators chose to intensify this aspect in the newest season, incorporating real-life politics more overtly and suggesting that Homelander serves as a symbol for former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The divisive nature of the show sparked intense debate within its fanbase, resulting in numerous negative reviews being submitted en masse. Remarkably, even with reduced writing quality and these instances of review-bombing, the show continued to captivate audiences, breaking viewership records as confirmed by multiple sources.
As we eagerly anticipate the last season of the show, both the brand and its creators are keeping themselves current by frequently updating their social media accounts, often alluding to real-world events. Recently, Kripke poked fun at Trump by sharing a doctored image that depicted Snyder’s Justice League with Trump supporters instead of the actual Justice League members.
Now you can imagine that following the presidential debate, ‘The Boys’ had to answer “the call.”
On September 10th, Vice President Kamala Harris and ex-President Donald Trump engaged in their initial debate, which was held in Philadelphia. This discussion, overseen by ABC News, touched upon numerous subjects such as the economy, abortion, immigration, race, among others. The debate surpassed its scheduled 90 minutes duration. During this exchange, Harris contested Trump on multiple matters, including his crowd sizes at rallies, while Trump playfully mentioned his red hats in response to Harris’s viewpoints.
This is the part that ‘The Boys’ referenced in their social media post:
In contrast to what some mainstream outlets are saying, ‘The Boys’ group has shared a new social media post poking fun at last night’s presidential debate. This is an image from a rally they held yesterday, where they unveiled a fresh idea…

‘The Boys portrayed Trump’s tendency to distort truth and sometimes resort to ‘unconventional facts’ to make his points, which they found humorous. However, viewers who are fans of the show expressed displeasure about this political content, stating it’s becoming repetitive to incorporate politics into all forms of entertainment, even superhero series.’
I’m not a fan of him, but comparing everything to Trump is exhausting.

It’s clear that you have strong feelings against President Trump. I used to find your content engaging, but now it seems like politics are overshadowing the superhero aspect, making it too preachy for my taste.

Frankly, I found the initial episode of that series quite unsettling, and I have no desire to watch any more.

I’m relieved that the series has reached its conclusion. To be honest, season 4 wasn’t particularly impressive. I’d rather it not tarnish the brilliance of the earlier seasons like what happened with Game of Thrones.
