As a longtime fan of the gritty and satirical superhero series “The Boys,” I can’t help but feel uneasy after watching the season four finale. Having followed the storyline closely since its inception, I’ve grown accustomed to the twists and turns that come with this dark world. But this time around, the stakes seem higher than ever.
As a longtime fan of The Boys, I have to admit that the season four finale left me feeling uneasy and uncertain about the future of this dystopian world. With Victoria Neuman’s shocking demise, Robert Singer behind bars, and the new President Calhoun seemingly under Homelander’s control, it seems like chaos reigns supreme.
In a brief and unassuming encounter, Homelander and President Calhoun enter a detainment center. During his morning security meeting, Calhoun learned that Soldier Boy was being kept in a familiar cell – the very one where Grace Mallory had confined him at the end of season three. With Vought having exposed Soldier Boy as a traitor and his statue having been torn down, it’s evident that he’s no longer regarded as a hero. Homelander exhibits displeasure upon discovering Soldier Boy in custody, and surprisingly, he isn’t wearing the restraining mask anymore. It remains unclear what the CIA’s intentions are for Soldier Boy now that Grace Mallory has passed away.
It’s unclear what the next move is for him, but it seems likely that he intends to rouse Soldier Boy. He may believe he can manipulate or use Soldier Boy against The Boys and other adversaries of the supes’ regime. Homelander yearns for paternal love and acceptance, making it difficult for him to acknowledge Soldier Boy’s indifference. A deeper concern lies within Homelander, prompting his desire to eliminate Soldier Boy. However, he remains uncertain about how to bring this about. The role of Soldier Boy in the upcoming season five of The Boys remains to be seen.
