As someone who’s lived through the golden age of television and witnessed the rise of streaming giants, I must admit that this summer season has truly been a spectacle to behold. The fourth season of “The Boys” and the second season of “House of the Dragon” were undoubtedly two of the most anticipated series of the year, each delivering their unique blend of action, drama, and intrigue in their own remarkable ways.
On June 13, 2024, the fourth installment of “The Boys” hit our screens, wrapping up on July 18, 2024, with jaw-dropping viewer numbers. Meanwhile, the long-awaited second season of HBO’s “House of the Dragon” made its debut on June 16, 2024, and concluded on August 4, 2024, delivering impressive results and cementing its success.
Although both “The Boys” Season 4 and “House of the Dragon” Season 2 performed exceptionally well and were considered successful, the overall ratings for this year’s summer television season indicate that neither outperformed their competitor. In fact, it was another series that convincingly surpassed both in terms of viewership.
Here at Fiction Horizon, we haven’t delved into that specific show yet since it falls under a unique genre. However, let me tell you, this Netflix series has stolen the spotlight during the summer season and I will share further insights about it in the following sections.
The ratings for Seasons 4 of ‘The Boys’ and Season 2 of ‘House of the Dragon’ have been released, and they are impressive, to put it mildly. These shows performed exceptionally well, as we previously reported that ‘The Boys’ broke several records, and while ‘House of the Dragon’ didn’t set new standards, its success is on par with its first season, leaving fans content with how the series unfolded.
Although both shows boast impressive ratings and records, neither has approached the clear champion of the summer season. Interestingly, if you look at the charts, the accumulated numbers for these two shows don’t exceed those of the uncontested winner.

Which show held the top spot? That would be none other than ‘Bridgerton’! We’ve hinted at it in various previous discussions, but let me tell you, it left its rivals far behind. The Netflix romantic series has been a real sensation this season, outperforming every other show except for one week, and the overall ratings are nothing short of astounding.
Indeed, it’s worth noting that Bridgerton caters to a broader audience than the other two shows, and Netflix being the dominant streaming platform, yet the viewership numbers are still noteworthy. These outstanding results demand our admiration, so we can only extend our congratulations to everyone who contributed to this tremendous success.
