The group known as Rebel Wolves, composed of former CD Projekt RED employees, has unveiled their newest venture: The Dawnwalker’s Blood. This open-world action RPG takes place in the Carpathian Mountains during the 14th century and focuses on Coen, a man recently transformed into a Dawnwalker.
Unlike traditional vampire stories that often depict powerful protagonists, Coen’s character is designed to be more relatable. As stated by studio CEO and game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Coen isn’t shown as a “superhero” or overly powerful. During daylight, he behaves like a human, participating in sword fights and delving into dark magic. Yet, he remains vulnerable and can be overcome by common adversaries.
Jakub Szamałek, both writer and narrative director, gives depth to Coen by portraying him as a novice embarking on a new adventure. Unlike the stereotypical seasoned warrior, Coen is presented as a young, open individual who isn’t afraid to show his feelings and vulnerabilities. This characterization aims to provide players with a unique and identifiable protagonist.
One captivating feature of this game is the 30-day time limit. Contrary to what might initially seem like a hurried gaming experience, the developers emphasize that it’s not a strict timer forcing players to rush. Instead, this design choice offers an engaging and immersive environment without the burden of looming deadlines, allowing for leisurely exploration.
The game titled “Blood of Dawnwalker” is set to debut on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers. While the exact launch date remains undisclosed, a full gameplay unveiling is expected this summer. Gamers can eagerly anticipate exploring the realm of Coen, managing his human weaknesses alongside his emerging powers as a vampire.
