Whether you’re looking for the latest installment in a favorite series or a brand new sci-fi story, this month’s releases have a lot to offer.
‘How to Train Your Dragon’ (2025)

I’m completely captivated by the story of Hiccup, a young Viking who does things his own way. He forms an incredible friendship with Toothless, a Night Fury dragon he finds injured, and it’s just beautiful to watch. Mason Thames and Nico Parker really bring them to life in this live-action version, and the setting feels so real and rugged. The movie shows how hard it is for Hiccup to get his village to see dragons aren’t monsters, but he never gives up. They’ve used amazing effects to recreate these characters we all love, and at its heart, it’s a story about understanding others and being courageous, even when it’s difficult, all within this fascinating Viking community.
‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ (2025)

Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey star in a thrilling new adventure where a team attempts to collect DNA from the very last of the giant dinosaurs. The film explores the intense scientific competition to use this ancient genetic material for potentially life-saving medical advancements. As they venture into treacherous landscapes, the team faces danger for both themselves and the dinosaurs, continuing the story of humans and dinosaurs sharing a world where nature often fights back. The film also raises important questions about the morality of genetic experiments driven by corporations.
‘Trap House’ (2025)

This intense crime thriller explores the dangerous world of drug trafficking and the complex relationships between those involved. The story follows several characters as they deal with betrayal and the constant pressure from the police. It shows how larger problems and personal desires drive people to take extreme risks, and the film doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities and consequences of living a volatile life. Ultimately, it’s a story about people trying to find some stability in a profession where danger is constant.
‘Firebreak’ (2026)

Director David Victori’s new thriller follows a mother’s frantic race against time to find her daughter. Their search unfolds as a large forest fire quickly surrounds them. Facing both the dangerous environment and her own fear, the mother must find the child before it’s too late. The film powerfully portrays how people cope with natural disasters and the limits of survival, with stunning visuals that capture the overwhelming scale of the fire.
‘Yoh! Bestie’ (2026)

This film, set in the beautiful coastal town of Knysna, South Africa, follows two friends at a wedding. As they celebrate their friends’ big day, they’re also forced to deal with old romantic feelings and figure out how to grow up. The story looks at how big life events and travel can affect long-term friendships, offering a realistic portrayal of young adults navigating love and emotional growth. The stunning location helps the characters take a good look at where their lives are headed.
‘Matter of Time’ (2026)

This science fiction film centers around a video game designer who finds a device that can freeze time. At first, they use it to fix their own life, but quickly run into difficult moral questions and unexpected problems. The story delves into the burden of controlling time and the responsibility that comes with such incredible power. Set in the present day, the film explores how technology clashes with what’s right and wrong, and forces the main character to think about the lasting effects of even short-term decisions.
‘Joe’s College Road Trip’ (2026)

Tyler Perry plays Joe, Madea’s brother, who takes his grandson on a road trip to check out colleges. The journey is full of funny moments and valuable life lessons as they connect as a family and deal with the pressures of planning for the future. The movie mixes comedy with touching scenes about education and the importance of family traditions, highlighting the differences between generations through their shared adventure.
‘Honey Don’t!’ (2025)

This stylish thriller stars Margaret Qualley and Aubrey Plaza as a private investigator who stumbles upon a dangerous conspiracy involving a secretive religious cult. As she digs deeper into the case, it becomes harder and harder to tell what’s real and who is manipulating whom. The film is a dark and atmospheric exploration of faith, power, and lies, and how uncovering hidden truths can take a heavy psychological toll.
‘Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story’ (2025)

This movie tells the true story of Nichole Jolly, a nurse who bravely worked during a devastating wildfire. It follows her as she races to evacuate patients and save lives while the hospital is threatened by flames. The film highlights her courage and the quick thinking she needed to survive the disaster and help others. It’s a powerful tribute to the dedication of healthcare workers and first responders facing extreme danger, and it shows the events unfolding through her eyes.
‘Queen of Chess’ (2026)

This documentary tells the story of Judit Polgár, often called the best female chess player of all time. It follows her incredible success in the competitive world of chess, where she quickly rose to become a Grandmaster by the age of 15. Using old footage and interviews, the film shows the intense dedication it took to reach the top of the sport. It also explores her influence on chess and how she inspired future players, particularly focusing on the determination and strategic thinking she needed to break down barriers.
‘Death Whisperer 3’ (2025)

This latest installment in the Thai horror series revisits the family terrorized by evil spirits. The film delves into the history of a dangerous curse that has affected the family for generations. They must face frightening ghosts while trying to end the pattern of violence and haunting. Like the previous movies, it’s filled with a creepy atmosphere and draws on Thai folklore. The story centers around uncovering old secrets that could finally lay the spirits to rest.
‘The Swedish Connection’ (2026)

This historical drama, based on a true story from World War II Sweden, premieres on February 19th. It centers on Gösta Engzell, a Swedish government employee whose peaceful life is disrupted when he learns about the persecution of Jews in nearby countries. Despite Sweden’s official neutrality, Gösta and his colleagues find clever ways to use legal technicalities and paperwork to secretly rescue Jewish people. The film showcases the strength of ordinary people standing up to injustice and the bravery it takes to fight against a cruel and powerful system.
‘Meet, Greet & Bye’ (2025)

This heartwarming film tells the story of two strangers who meet during a long airport layover. As they spend hours together, they open up about their lives and develop a deep connection. The airport becomes the backdrop for a brief but impactful meeting between two people who are feeling alone. The movie beautifully shows how meaningful relationships can blossom in surprising and temporary situations, focusing on the conversations and the chemistry between the two main characters as they wait for their flights.
‘Bunny’ (2025)

This intimate drama follows a young woman as she figures out who she is and what she wants in life. The film explores how she tries to build genuine connections and find meaning in a world that’s constantly changing. It’s a realistic look at growing up, focusing on the everyday moments and important choices that define us, and highlights how being open and vulnerable is key to forming strong relationships.
‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ (2023)

As a huge fan of the ‘Mission: Impossible’ series, I was completely hooked by ‘Dead Reckoning Part One’! It follows Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, and his team as they desperately try to stop a terrifying new weapon from endangering the world. The story revolves around a frantic, global chase for a two-part key that controls a seriously dangerous AI. It’s packed with those incredible, high-stakes action scenes and clever spy work we’ve come to expect. What really stood out to me was how much the film focused on the strong bond between the team members, and it also raises some really interesting – and scary – questions about the dangers of technology running wild. And, of course, the stunts are absolutely insane, filmed in amazing locations all over the world!
