Our Guide to Drinks at Walt Disney World’s The Beak and Barrel
During my visit to The Beak and Barrel, there’s one thing that wouldn’t be the same as a regular guest’s experience – I didn’t get to choose from the menu. But I was lucky enough to sample three drinks directly from the new Pirates of the Caribbean bar menu. Typically, each patron is limited to only two drinks, but I got an exception.
The Beak and Barrel’s Plunderer’s Punch Is an Excellent Drink (IF You Like Spiced Rum)
At the onset of my visit to the Beak and Barrel, they offered their house special, a drink called Plunderer’s Punch, which is renowned there. This potion consists of Kraken Black Spiced Rum, blackberry, vanilla, and a touch of citrus. Being more fond of unspiced rum varieties, this concoction wasn’t necessarily my preferred choice. Although I didn’t dislike it outright, I didn’t manage to finish it either. Surprisingly, however, I found the Plunderer’s Punch quite strong in alcohol content. If the quality of their specialty cocktails is as potent as this one at The Beak and Barrel, patrons can expect a satisfying experience without feeling short-changed at this pirate-themed tavern.
If you enjoy the flavor of spiced rum, I’m confident that you’ll appreciate the latest pirate-themed beverage at The Beak and Barrel. In fact, all my table companions seemed to enjoy it. Even if you don’t find the drink appealing, you’re likely to cherish the pirate skull mug it arrives in, which explains its higher price of $46. This mug is quite hefty but not difficult to handle. Once you get accustomed to drinking from it, the experience is more enjoyable than sipping from an ordinary glass.
The Non-Alcoholic Cursed Treasure Drink Is a Sweet Surprise
Everyone, regardless of age, will delight in The Beak and Barrel’s Cursed Treasure, a tantalizing non-alcoholic beverage. Crafted with creamy coconut milk and cookie crumbs, it is finished with a velvety vanilla foam and a playful pirate’s gold cookie crown. Although the edible pirate hat on top can be skipped over, the drink itself is not to be missed. It offers a delightful blend of sweetness, coldness, and balance for an irresistible sip.
The Treasure Trove Is Both Drink and Dessert at The Beak and Barrel
The third drink, which was the bar’s other non-alcoholic option, arrived as part of The Beak and Barrel’s only dessert offering. Known as The Treasure Trove, this intriguing blend of Ube, lemon, and coconut would have been even more enjoyable if you could have taken it with you from the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar. This delightful and refreshing beverage would have made an ideal drink to carry around on a hot day in Orlando. It arrived on a tray along with a Vanilla Cake Plank (cake pop), a Chocolate Cannonball, and Golden Caramel Popcorn. The popcorn was tasty, but opinions differed at our table regarding the Chocolate Cannonball – I personally found it delicious but far too dense. On the other hand, I would have gladly consumed 37 of the Vanilla Cake Plank, as it was simply fantastic.
Our Bonus Tip for Enjoying The Beak and Barrel’s Drinks
One delightful perk of opting for non-alcoholic beverages is that they often arrive in Moscow Mule-style mugs, which means kids can still join in the tradition of clinking glasses, just like a pirate would. Additionally, some customers are occasionally given a special “gold” piece of silverware, reminiscent of the type of treasure any sea-faring pirate would be proud to find in their chest.
Our Guide to The Beak and Barrel’s Food Options
Island Provisions Has Something for Everyone
Before moving on to dessert, we started our meal with the Island Provisions platter. This generous spread includes plantain chips, blue corn tortillas, toasted flatbread, and a quartet of dips. Among these, Mango Chutney is sweet but too much for some, Garlic Chimichurri is delightful, Spiced Guava offers a divisive sweet-tasty flavor within our group, while Zesty Culantro Cream Dip is my personal favorite.
This dish wasn’t something I would usually choose, but I plan on ordering it again when considering meals at The Beak and Barrel. I was pleasantly surprised by the Island Provisions plate as it exceeded my expectations. Additionally, it makes for a fantastic sharing option, easy and quick to consume, which added to the overall enjoyable experience at The Beak and Barrel.
The Kraken’s Catch Is the Beak and Barrel’s Signature Food Option
As a cinema enthusiast, let me share my experience with the star dish at this tavern – the Kraken’s Catch. This isn’t just any ordinary dish; it’s a symphony of flavors featuring tender octopus tentacles marinated in zesty lemon and lime juice, joined by olives, bell peppers, avocado, and a delightful piquillo pepper-almond foam. It’s a refreshing blend of tastes that strikes the right balance. However, if you’re expecting something traditional or heavy, this might be a surprise. Nonetheless, it’s definitely worth trying!
The thing is, it’s not quite as bizarre or thrilling as you might expect. It may appear unconventional with its curled octopus tentacle and foam, but the taste will win over many palates, if I may say so myself.
If your initial doubts about the dish have been overcome, that’s a positive sign. However, if you expected it to be exceptionally peculiar, I’m afraid that might not be a good indicator.
Our Key Advice for Enjoying the Food and Drink at The Beak and Barrel
Regardless of what you choose for your meal or beverage, you’ll need to consume them swiftly due to a 45-minute time limit and the inability to carry your drink away. At this tavern within Magic Kingdom (except at sit-down restaurants), drinks are not small, making it challenging to finish them quickly. Additionally, the entertaining aspects will keep you engrossed in what’s happening around your table, further adding to the rush.
My suggestion? Start with an empty stomach and a strategy in mind. Focus on what you desire the most initially, as there might not be enough time later. Make sure to secure your next reservation promptly. This Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar offers more than just food and drinks; however, don’t forget to sample everything at The Beak and Barrel each time you embark on a new adventure!
