Filming for The Batman: Part II is expected to start in January in Glasgow, Scotland, which will again be used to represent Gotham City.
This is sooner than Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav had indicated before, as he previously told investors that filming would start in the spring.
The latest schedule indicates Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios are prioritizing the project. Starting filming in January will give director Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson a good jump on completing the sequel by its planned release date of October 1, 2027.
News confirms that filming for Dune 3 is finished, freeing up Robert Pattinson to start working on The Batman 2 as planned, without any scheduling issues.

Glasgow is Gotham City
According to Glasgow World, Glasgow will once again become Gotham City for filming of The Batman: Part II, scheduled to start in January 2026.
Work on the next installment has begun, and filming will start at the beginning of next year. They’ll be shooting important outdoor scenes in Glasgow, including at Glasgow Cathedral and Anderston train station – both of which were featured in the original movie.
The majority of filming will happen at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, but Glasgow will again serve as the setting for Gotham’s city streets. Liverpool could also be used to film more city scenes to enhance the overall look.
Production designer Luke Hall also confirmed Glasgow locations (see above IG post).

Why the Rush? A Sale Could Be Imminent
The new production start date also arrives as Warner Bros. Discovery faces a potential studio sale.
According to reports, if Skydance and Paramount decide to join forces through a merger or acquisition, the deal could be finalized in about six months – just as filming on The Batman: Part II is wrapping up.
However, reports suggest that if either Comcast or Netflix were to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, getting regulatory approval could take years.
Release info
The next Batman movie, currently titled The Batman: Part II, is scheduled to come out on October 1, 2027. Matt Reeves will direct again, and he co-wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin.
The film features Robert Pattinson, with Colin Farrell reprising his role as Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred, according to IMDb.
