The Batman 2 Is Still Happening: Script Completed and Delivery Imminent

There’s news about the sequel to “The Batman”, titled “The Batman: Part II”. Contrary to some speculations, it’s not been scrapped and Matt Reeves is still at the helm as director. Interestingly, it appears that Reeves has finally completed the eagerly-awaited screenplay for the film.

In light of the recent misleading rumors suggesting that Matt Reeves isn’t helming “The Batman” 2, debunked by James Gunn, we receive news regarding the progress of the film’s script, given the production delays.

Matt Reeves Turning In Batman 2 Script by Memorial Day

As reported by The Wrap, director Matt Reeves has completed a preliminary version of the complete script for “The Batman: Part II” and plans to submit it by the end of this weekend.

Based on information from a reliable source involved in the project, it appears that Reeves has been submitting script pages for over six months now. The initial complete draft of the script is anticipated to be handed in by Memorial Day.

Why has The Batman: Part II been delayed?

The film has gone through numerous release date delays.

According to “The Wrap,” one possible cause for the delay could be the 2023 actors and writers’ strikes. Additionally, it is understood that Matt Reeves has been dealing with a personal matter.

Delay not necessarily a bad thing

Moreover, The Wrap mentions that Matt Reeves’ version of Batman will persist as a distinct entity, existing independently from the DC Universe envisioned by James Gunn.

It’s also been proposed that the reason for the delay could be to observe if James Gunn’s Superman film performs well this summer. If it does and Tim Burton (Reeves is a nickname for him) approves of Gunn’s work, there are rumors that Reeves may permit his Batman character to tie into the DC Universe. We’ll have to wait and see.

It’s being whispered that Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe film in development could be titled “World’s Finest,” starring his version of David Corenswet as Superman alongside a Batman character. The rumors also suggest that Gunn is interested in casting Robert Pattinson within the DC Universe.

As a fan, I must admit it’s disappointing that there have been delays in the release of The Batman 2, and it seems to be taking forever. However, from another perspective, perhaps it’s beneficial to not hurry things along. These delays might actually provide Reeves with the necessary time to refine the sequel and make it even more exceptional.
