A fresh rumor about the upcoming movie “Avengers: Doomsday” hints at a potential link with either a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series on Disney+ or Wolverine, possibly even combining elements from both.
Note: Spoilers follow.
Avengers: Doomsday set leak
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve stumbled upon an intriguing piece of information that allegedly comes from a leaked video on the set of what’s being touted as “Avengers: Doomsday.” Now, here’s where it gets interesting – some fans are speculating that this could be a clever publicity stunt by Marvel Studios. The claim is that an enterprising fan managed to sneak onto the set of “Avengers: Doomsday” in the UK, but take this with a pinch of salt as the authenticity of the video hasn’t been officially verified yet.
From my perspective, the film doesn’t reveal much beyond a single key scene, which leaves me suspecting that this entire presentation is merely a clever marketing strategy to generate hype for the movie. Intriguingly, a spectator can be seen casually strolling past the production team and grabbing a beverage, all while sporting a disguise and carrying a camera (quite amusing, isn’t it?).
To clarify, it seems that the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday will incorporate Madripoor, a fictional Marvel city, into its storyline. In the comic books, Madripoor is depicted as an island in Southeast Asia with a distinct separation between the affluent Hightown district and the crime-ridden Lowtown area.
Wolverine connection: Patch
There’s a connection to Wolverine because he frequently worked there, using the alias “Patch,” and became embroiled in the criminal activities on the island.
Lately, in the comic series “Deadpool & Wolverine“, they hinted at Hugh Jackman’s character being a “Patch” version. Could it be that this “Patch” appears in “Avengers: Doomsday“?
More from Sharon Carter
In the series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier“, it was revealed that Madripoor served as a significant setting. The character Sharon Carter, who used to work for SHIELD, transformed into the notorious crime boss of Madripoor, called the Power Broker. She held Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes captive within its borders.
Originally, the Russos intended to include Emily VanCamp in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, expanding on her character’s story. However, due to the abundance of characters, they decided against it. Instead, her narrative progressed in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. There’s speculation that she might reappear in Doomsday. The Russos initially brought her into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and she was also a part of Civil War.
Welcome to Battleworld?
It’s said that in the storyline of “Avengers: Doomsday”, different regions from across the Multiverse are transported to a place called Battleworld. A recently-leaked video hints that Madripoor could be one of these places.
It’s also plausible that the characters might revisit Madripoor, possibly for a specific purpose. The confirmed actors include Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. As for Emily VanCamp and Hugh Jackman, their participation has not been officially verified yet. Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel have hinted that not all cast members have been disclosed, suggesting that more actors and characters may join the lineup.
